Win a Family Ticket to Octonauts Live

Octonauts is one program that both of my children love and watch every morning before school.  They love all the characters from Captain Barnacles, Kwazii, Peso, Shellington and many more that keep them entertained as they go down in their Octopods for deep sea adventures.

I’m rather excited to be surprising my two with tickets to the show in the New Year and can’t wait to see their happy little faces.

No Mess Play Foam from Learning Resources – Review and win

When I was sent No Mess Play Foam to review from Learning Resources, I was very intrigued.  Would it really be no mess?  How well would it stick together?  Would there be little balls of foam all over the floor?

1906 PF Combo 8 PkMiss M who is 5 was very keen to try the Play Foam – she loves anything crafty and was eager to get her fingers on this new and exciting looking texture.  The first thing I noticed was how pliable the balls of foam were and you can literally mould them into shapes, pull it apart and stick it back together.  In fact it seemed incredibly sticky but the bizarre things was there was no stickiness on your fingers or to anything else.  Wow – quite amazing, I was definitely impressed, the “No Mess” quality of this product really is true.

Foam 1Mister B absolutely adored testing his fingers in the Play Foam and together they had sausage rolling races and really helped them interact and have fun.  The colours will merge if you mix the individual colours together which did eventually happen to ours, but this didn’t phase my little ones in the slightest and they continued to play with this day after day.

Foam 2A few days later I came home to find daddy playing with the Play Foam, creating different shapes such as a pear, turtle, duck, rowing boat!!  The children were fascinated by his creations and it really spurred them on to have a go at trying different ideas for themselves.

Foam 3We’ve had lots of fun with No Mess Play Foam as it really is different to anything else we’ve tried.  We’d highly recommend everyone to give it a go – lots of sticky fun with no mess – what more could you ask for!!

If you fancy trying a pack for free then why not enter the Learning Resources competition to WIN 1 of 5 packs on their Facebook page.  Entries close on Friday 7th June 2013.

Magic Moves Electronic Wand – Review

The first thing Miss M said when she saw the Magic Moves Electronic Wand, was “Wow a microphone – can I have a go please mummy?”.   And how appropriate that when she switched it on, after a couple of presses of the button it asked her to Sing like a rock star, so that is exactly what she did.

Wand

The Magic Moves Wand captured both 5 yr old Miss M’s and 2 yr old Mister B’s attention right away with it’s easy to hold, brightly coloured design that lights up and flashes as you use it.  With each press of the button you are asked to carry out command such as Stomp like a dinosaur, Swoop like an eagle, Hop like a frog, Leap like a lion, Zoom like a jet etc.

The idea of the wand is to promote activity in children and it certainly did that – my two never sat down the whole time they were playing with it and it is a toy that has come out each day.  With 90 different commands it keeps them engaged and occupied while I can sit back and watch them having fun and giggles and also the odd battle as to who is going to control the wand!

Promoting creative movement, gross motor skills, and physical activity in children, I think the Magic Moves Wand is an excellent toy that young children love and will keep them entertained.  It’s great to just pick it up each day when they are feeling sluggish and get them jumping and dancing around.

To win your own Magic Moves Wand, check out the Learning Resources Facebook page as they have a competition to win one.  Closes on 1st March 2013 so get your entry in now!!

Robinsons Fruit Shoot Smencils – Review

I think nearly all children love to draw, write and colour so Smencils – the new gourmet scented pencils from Learning Resources were sure to be a hit with Miss M when we received a pack to try.  The amazing thing with these pencils is not only their scent but the fact that they are made from 100% recycled newspaper!!

We received a pack of the new Robinson’s Fruit Shoot Smencils which contained 5 graphite pencils in the 5 popular Fruit Shoot flavours – Orange, Tropical Fruit, Apple, Summer Fruits and Blackcurrant & Apple.  They each come individually cased in a plastic tube to preserve the scent but this also adds to the appeal for children as they love things in little containers to open and close.

When I gave the Smencils to Miss M to try her eyes lit up.  She carefully opened each tube and had a sniff, then tried to guess the flavour – in fact she found it quite fascinating that each pencil smelt differently.  After opening each tube and sniffing each pencil about three times and getting mummy and daddy to have a sniff she proceeded to do some drawing.  What fascinated me whilst watching her was that although each pencil had the same graphite lead in it, she would draw a little then put the pencil back in the tube, open another tube, have a sniff then draw bit more and so on.

We’ve loved trying Smencils and Miss M loves trying to get people to guess the different scents.  A great novelty pencil idea but eco-friendly being made with 100% recycled newspaper.

If you fancy trying some then why not join the Learning Resources Facebook page where you can enter a competition for your chance to win a pack of Robinson’s Fruit shoot Smencils.  The competition ends on Friday 7th September so get your entries in now!!
