Day to Day

After School Fun in the Park!

Having been away last weekend and Mister B being struck down with a virus, we haven’t really had any fun outside for a while and with Miss M preferring to be out than in, I didn’t want to turn down her request after school yesterday begging me to take her down to the park!  The sun was shining and I’d only have to occupy them in the house so we grabbed her trainers and off we went.

Poor Mister B is still under the weather although definitely on the mend but wasn’t up to walking, so I took him in the pushchair which he remained in the whole time – a sure sign that the virus really has exhausted him.  Miss M on the other hand had so much energy to burn, I couldn’t keep up with her.  And what really appealed to her was that once a week a local community group come down to the park after school with boxes full of play equipment such as balls, skipping ropes, tennis racquets, hula hoops etc. to try to encourage children to be active.

Miss M didn’t need asking and dug straight into the boxes helping herself to various items which kept her entertained over the next hour and a half.  It was really good to see how keen she was to try new things and make up her own way of playing with things.

A great way to occupy children after school that’s close to home and gets them out in the fresh air.  Let’s hope the sun’s out next week too!!

What a wonderful sister doing the pram pushing after all that activity. This post makes me want to get my skipping rope out. Haven’t done it for years so would probably be lethal though x

  13. It makes such a difference when the sun comes out, doesn’t it? After school park visits are hard to fit in, but I’m always so glad when we do!

  14. I love this post, it’s great to see that your little girl has a real interest in being outdoors, active and playing in the park. It’s so cute she wanted to push Mr B all the way home and I think it’s such a good idea that your local community brings things for the children to play with at the park – they should bring that in across the country.
Great post and stopping over from Country Kids

Looks like she had a great time. I’m always surprised how much energy the kids have when they come out of school. I’m thinking the teachers are feeding them M&Ms or Smarties before they send them home to us LOL. Hope Mister B is on the mend and feeling better soon!

I think park trips after school are magical and I can’t wait to do these with The Boy in September, definitely something to be a positive about him starting school! It’s great that there’s a group that comes down to entice the children, they often have such fun equipment.

That’s a great idea for the community group to do. Gets kids playing with different activities and the chance for them to play together with people they might not know.
