Snackeez 2 in 1 Snack and Drink Cup – Review

Snackeez is a revolutionary new idea from Character combining both a drinks bottle and a snack pot in one.  Great for people on the move and something I know my children would adore, not just for the fun aspect, but for convenience, ease of only having one container and it comes with a straw – always a bonus!

The drink has a simple, brightly coloured design, each cup combining two colours.  Incorporated into the top is a lid which opens up to the snack pot and also a straw which reaches down to the lower part of the container where the drink is stored.  There is a soft easy to grip band around the centre making the cup easy to hold.

My daughter absolutely loves the Snackeez and finds it brilliant to use when she goes to sport lessons, or playing in the garden as she has her snack with her alongside her drink. Grapes are a good healthy snack that we often use and you get fit a generous portion inside the pot.  For a treat on a Saturday night she enjoys some popcorn in the snack pot along with a fizzy drink.  The cup is versatile and quite large, ensuring both a decent size drink and snack can be put in it.

The Snackeez has been a big hit with us and one that both my children enjoy using.  It’s really handy and useful as you have less to carry and it makes snack time fun.  We’ve found it easy to wash out, all the parts separate easily and equally simple to slot back together.  Our’s has been well used so far and will be great for summertime, why not try one for yourself?

Tommy Tucker Popcorn – Review

I’d never heard of Tommy Tucker popcorn when I was sent some to review, but little did I know what I was missing out on.  Everything from the packaging to the taste has completely hit the spot with me and without doubt I would recommend

tommy tuckerThe packaging stood out for me as soon as I saw it, very classy looking, definitely one I’d pick up if I saw it.  The choice of flavours is quite vast and we received a selection, Luxury Toffee, Sweet ‘n’ Salt, Coconut Toffee and Fruits of the Forest.

I have to say immediately the Luxury Toffee appealed to me and it didn’t disappoint, it just melted in the mouth, a luxury taste of buttery popcorn – I could go on eating this one, in fact the family didn’t get much of a look in! lol

The children were keen on the Sweet ‘n’ Salt as well as the Luxury Toffee and enjoyed it as the perfect Saturday night tv snack.  They were bickering over the last few balls in the bowl and kept asking for more which is a good sign and confirms that they really did enjoy them.

Not being a fan of coconut myself, but knowing the husband is, I saved the Coconut Toffee for him to try and without telling him what it was, I gave him a bowlful.  He took a few pieces and immediately said “Oh wow, that’s nice!”  so I can assure you if you are a fan of coconut then this will be a hit!

Fruits of the Forest is an unusual flavour of popcorn and although it was quite pleasant and we all enjoyed it, we had other favourites that we preferred, but definitely worth a try for a different taste sensation.

tommy popcornAll in all, our overall opinion of Tommy Tucker popcorn is that it is excellent.  Fabulous quality, taste and something for everyone.  We all recommend it and think it’s an excellent snack that we thoroughly enjoyed!

Mornings with belVita

Mornings for me are early, hectic, with everything in the house demanding my attention from the curtains wanting opening, the kitchen blinds being pulled up, the pack lunch boxes filled up, the children wanting bowls of cereals, drinks of milk, clothes for school, the list goes on, then I on the other hand need to get washed and dressed for work leaving me little time for breakfast.

I normally eat on the go, a mouthful of cereal, open a curtain, another mouthful, pack the lunch boxes, another spoonful, wipe down the table…  you get the gist, it’s the only way I can get out the house by 7.45 in the morning, without getting up ridiculously early.  These days I never set an alarm, I’m usually woken to a three year old saying “Mummy, please change me” *filled pull-up alert!!*.

Anything to save time for me is a bonus and belVita have come up with just that.  A selection of slow release breakfast biscuits made with 5 wholegrains.  They come in individually wrapped packs containing several biscuits to see you through the morning with a slow release of carbohydrates to get your day off to a good start.

belvita 2 I tried the plain belVita biscuits in Milk & Cereals and Fruit & Fibre varieties and I can verify that both are truly delicious.  I had already been a fan of the Milk & Cereals variety but have now widened my choices.  These both come in wrapped packs of four biscuits which is plenty to keep you going through the morning, they are crunchy, tasty and very moreish.

There is also a new variety of belVita called Yogurt Crunch with consist of two biscuits sandwiched together with a creamy live yogurt filling.  The biscuits are cocoa flavoured which immediately caught my eye being a bit of a chocolate fan, but I have to be honest and say I wasn’t overly keen on these.  Something about the overall flavour just didn’t do it for me, although the husband enjoyed them.

Belvita 1All the belVita biscuits are rich in cereals, a great source of fibre, made from wholegrains and contain vitamins B1 & E along with magnesium and iron.  The yogurt ones benefit from calcium also.

These are perfect for an on the go breakfast along with a piece of fruit and a drink, in fact if I’m a bit pushed for time in the morning, I just throw a pack into my bag along with an apple to take to work and eat them at my desk, I can spread them out across the morning and it sees me through till lunch.

belvita 3I would definitely recommend belVita biscuits for a quick breakfast, they are handy to have in the cupboard and can be eaten on the go.  I do however enjoy my Weetabix when I manage the time so being organised is a key thing in the mornings.

Some of my tips for a smooth running morning are preparation the night before:

  • Make the pack lunches the night before so that it only takes 5 mins in the morning to take them out the fridge and put them in the relevant boxes.
  • Lay out all the morning clothes so once everyone’s washed they know where to find their clothes and what they are wearing.
  • Ensure school/work bags are ready, have everything in them to take in the morning.
  • Get the cereal bowls and spoons out so that it is just a cast of pouring the cereal and milk in the morning.
  • Keep a pack of belVita in your bag – you never know when you might need it! 😉

Crazy Jack Organic Soft Apricots – Review

One thing my children look forward to each day is snack time, so I’m always on the lookout for healthy options that they can enjoy but something a bit different.  I was delighted to try some Organic Soft Apricots from Crazy Jack.

Crazy Jacks Organici Soft ApricotsWhen I opened the packet, my two children peered in excitedly but they looked a little disappointed as they were expecting to see orange apricots.  These apricots from Crazy Jack are naturally dark, more brown in colour than you would normally get from dried apricots.  I encouraged them to try one and two year old Mister B got stuck in and his first words were “Mmmm, yummy in my tummy”.  Miss M not wanting to be left out had a taste and agreed, she really enjoyed the flavour.  Between them they devoured over half the pack before I took it away to try some for myself.

Crazy jacks apricotsI found them to be very tasty, almost a toffee like flavour to them that made them moreish and the perfect healthy snack that both children and adults can enjoy.  With a soft texture they are easy to bite through and don’t get stuck in your teeth.  Not only are these organic, but are naturally high in fibre and a good source of iron too so plenty of plus points.  I love it that the children can enjoy fruit in a different form, it keeps things interesting but also these apricots are handy to keep in the cupboard and use for snacks both at home and away.

We highly recommend these apricots, after all my children wouldn’t devour over half a pack in one sitting if they didn’t taste good!!
