Top Toys for Christmas from TOMY

TOMY have revealed their top toys for Christmas and they have something for everyone, the list covers across the ages from toddler toys, to games and even a smartphone photo printer. With Christmas fast approaching here’s a chance to check out some great gift ideas for any last minute buys.

Rizmo (rrp £59.99)

First up is Rizmo also coming in the Dream Toys Top 12, this cute friend is sure to be top of a lot of children’s Christmas lists this year. Highly interactive Rizmo will listen, learn, remember and evolve depending on how much you interact and entertain the toy.

This looks fantastic and one that I know my children will enjoy, we can’t wait to see what he turns into and will be sure to show you more about him once we’ve had time to explore his ways. Here’s Rizmo in its initial fluff ball stage before any interaction has started, once we remove him from the box it releases the battery strip ready for action!

With 5 play modes that become 7 once fully evolved and coming in three colour ways, Berry, Aqua and Snow there is plenty to do and keep kids occupied. Each Rizmo comes with it’s only musical style although you’ll only find out what your’s is once you let it grow.

Ritzy Rollerz Dance n Dazzle Spa Playset with Tori Tada (rrp £34.99)

How cute is this? Suitable for ages 4+, this unicorn shaped spa playset opens up to reveal the perfect place for Ritzy Rollerz to go to get pampered in charms. With 30 charms included there are plenty of places to show them store and display them as well as lights and music features. If my girl was younger this would be the ideal toy for her, I think it would be perfect for little ones who love a bit of glamour!

Articulate Phrases Game (rrp £32.99)

We love playing family games and this promises to be a good one. Working in teams, it’s a case of getting the most phrases correct and moving around the board to determine the winner. Although aimed at ages 12+, we’ll have a go at this with my 9yr old and daughter who turns 12 in two weeks. Being a team game you can easily adapt and with lots of family visiting in the next few weeks it’ll be a chance to put this game through it’s paces – stay tuned to find out what we thought of Articulate Phrases game.

Pile up Pirates (rrp £12.99)

This game looks fun and is aimed at ages 5+ and can be played solo or with up to 4 players. With 16 pirates and 8 planks you take turns in stacking them on top of the ship until one of them falls. Cleverly there are two settings to make it easier or harder which also means it will suit different ages and as the child grows you can move it to the harder level. Pile Up Pirates looks like a lot of fun, helping kids with their motor skills and also having a fun contest with their parents – this is fun game that anyone can join in with.

Puff Ball (rrp £9.99)

When my kids saw this they were super excited – apparently there is an advert on tv and they think it will be so much fun to play. Puff Ball is a game with a difference – you use your own puff to move the ball along the assault course going up ramps, over see saws and through hoops – the first person to get to the end is the winner. This should be great fun and we can’t wait to try it out!

Build A Johnny Tractor (rrp £24.99)

How cute is this for little ones – not only is Build a Johnny Tractor a fun toy to play with, you can take him apart and build him together again. It comes with a drill and several attachments so little ones from 18 months plus can get stuck into some DIY action. Covering both motor skills and construction skills this is the perfect toy for those moving on from baby toys.

KiiPix (rrp £39.99)

This is a great one for the teens or even adult. If you love taking pictures with your smartphone then the KiiPix is a great way to print out your favourites instantly. It’s simple to use, requires no battery or wifi. You do need to separately purchase the film for this so don’t forget to get some if you are buying this as a present this Xmas so it can be used on Christmas day. It requires Instax mini film, which is easily available from Amazon and other retailers.

To use you simply place your phone on the top with the photo you’d like to print on screen, press the shutter button and rotate the dial and out pops a polaroid copy of your photo which is cleverly done by using your phone’s screen brightness to burn the image onto the paper. Available in three colourways, Cherry Blossom, Sky Blue, and Jet Black, I think the KiiPix will be a big hit among the teen/young adult market this Christmas.

Pink Valtra Playset (rrp £34.99)

Wow – I love this! The limited edition Pink Valtra Playset donates £1 of every sale to Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now. It’s a gorgeous high quality toy, you can just feel it in the weight of the box. The diecast tractor comes with a double bale lifter and two pink bales which can be attached and then released again by simply pressing a button on the tractor. So much imaginative play to be had with this one, a timeless toy that has hours of play value for younger ones, or even older ones to have as a collectible – I sure would of loved a pink tractor when I was little!

Adorbs (rrp £4.99)

These are perfect for ages 3-6, a tulip backed dressing up dress that girls can put on by themselves and they come in a handy storage ball. With a choice of dresses available in each orb, you can collect them all!

Overall we think Tomy’s toy selection this Christmas is great, some really lovely products and everything is of a good quality. With something for everyone – make sure you check them out!

Tomy John Deere Dump Truck – Review

The John Deere Dump Truck from Tomy is a fabulously sturdy, multi purpose toy that can be used indoors and out for endless hours of fun.

Being a large size and boldy coloured meant it caught 4yr old Mister B’s eyes immediately! He couldn’t wait to star playing. Aimed at ages 3-8yrs, Mister B is the perfect age for this toy.

It’s strong and sturdy with no small parts. This toy is built to last and withstand some knocking and bashing! The back of the dumper truck lifts up completely in order to tip out it’s goods. The giant chunky wheels also go round smoothly so that it can easily be pushed across the carpet, grass, sand, wherever you decide to take this vehicle on it’s journey. Little ones will love using their imaginations with this truck and turn it into a useful carry along vehicle for whatever objects they wish.

I have to say it was hard to get a photo of Mister B playing with this as he constantly zooms around with it making all my pictures go blurry! He absolutely loves it and has played with it in many different ways, using the back to transport different other toys across the room. He’s really loves tipping the contents out when he reaches his destination with the built in handle to make tipping simple!

Where I think this toy will really shine is on the beach. We can’t wait to take it with us on holiday in July to Cornwall and get the dump truck really working hard with loads full of sand and stones on the beach. With it’s solid, durable plastic build, this is the ideal beach toy to provide hours of fun.

Britains Farm Green Landrover & General Purpose Trailer 1:16

Britains Farm Green Landrover & General Purpose Trailer is one of the newest items in the Britains Farm range of replica toys from Tomy. Scaled at 1:32 and suitable for ages 3+, these vehicles are a great size for young ones to play with, use their imagination and set up a play farm with.

This set comprises of a Green Landrover Defender and a detachable trailer with two hay bales. Joined together they come to approximately 54cm in length so that gives you a great idea of the size of these which my little boy found really appealing.

The Landrover Defender is extremely well built and exceptionally sturdy, perfect for young ones to handle. It is made from die cast metal and very strong plastic and shows lots of detail. The canopy on the back is easily removeable, simply by lifting it off and leaves room to store any items your child wishes to store in there. A great feature of the landrover is that by pressing the grey button on the bonnet, the headlights light up and it makes various vehicle sounds such as the engine starting up and the horn sound. Mister B, who is 4 was quite keen on this sounds and they helped enhance his play.

The trailer is a flatbed design with a simple hinged tailgate at the back that drops down allowing you to load or unload your goods. Here, as well as hay bales, Mister B has enjoyed filling the trailer with pigs, horses and even small toy cars! The trailer is a great attachment for the landrover giving children the opportunity to use their imagination in loading it up, moving things across the room, then unloading again.

This landrover and trailer set from Britains Farm has been a big success with my children, particularly my 4yr old boy and what I really love is that it is totally compatible with any other Britains Farm vehicles. For example the landrover can will attach to any trailer such as the pig trailer we have and also a tractor can pull the hay bale trailer. These really are versatile toys that have kept my son occupied for hours.

He really wanted a driver for his vehicles and it’s amazing the various drivers we’ve had over the last couple of weeks from Mr Happy to superman and batman! I love toys that allow for children to play freely and this are perfect for my 4yr old right now.

I’ve found all Britains Farm toys to be of the highest quality and well worth what you pay. They are built to last and have lots of play value. I highly recommend them, so why not check them out yourself?

Tomy Britains Big Farm Toys – Review

Tomy Britains Big Farm Toys are a realistic range of farm vehicles, animals and accessories made to a 1:16 scale and aimed at children aged 3-8 years. Each toy is sturdy, durable, made to a high standard with a good level of detail and feels like it will last. The plastic has a soft flexible feel to it that can withstand little fingers and lots of play, overall the set of toys are impressive and my children were eager to open the boxes and play.

With two excited children it was time to explore the vehicles and try them out. Some vehicles require AA batteries to create lights and realistic sounds on them which gives an added dimension to play, something little ones are particularly keen on.

The first vehicle we looked at is the CASE IH 210 Puma Tractor. I love the deep red colour of the tractor and the removable roof/windows. This comes off in one simple lift off piece to reveal the seat and steering wheel. Mister B loved this feature and used it depending on the weather, if it was sunny the tractor was open top, if it was raining the roof came on.

The tractor requires 3 AA batteries which enable lights to come on and very realistic engine and reversing sounds. These are actioned with two easy to press buttons on top of the tractor. The bonnet also lifts up to reveal the engine. By turning the steering wheel, the wheels move in the direction you are going. This is a well built model, that the children loved playing with.

We also received the Backhoe, a great farming accessory that attaches to the back of the tractor with a simple slot in motion. This is hinged with a scoop on the end and two fold out legs to stabilise it when in use. This added to the play value of the tractor and my two children were continuously driving the tractor around the room then stopping to pick things up with this.

The Land Rover Defender is a great vehicle, very sturdy and has had lots of play. This also requires 3 AA batteries which light up it’s headlights, as well as making realistic engine sounds. The cover over the back of the Land Rover is removable leaving an open storage area that the children loved filling with things during play.

To go with the Land Rover we had a Pig Trailer with Pigs. This was a realistic large trailer with a drop down jockey wheel, fold down ramp and gates at the back – perfect for moving farm animals around in. It’s complete with a family of pigs, 2 large and 3 piglets.

Mister B loved playing with this, he spent ages walking the pigs up the ramp into the trailer before pushing the land rover and trailer around the room. He also enjoyed sitting the pigs in the back of the land rover. These really do have plenty of scope for imaginative play and we found our trailer loaded up with various things to move about.

The whole range of Britains Big Farm Toys are like dream toys for young ones. Both my children are within the suggested 3-8 years age range and they have both enjoyed playing with them, but particularly Mister B who liked imitating the sounds and creating his own imaginative farm world in the front room using lots of animals and figures that we already had. He was keen to sit figures in the driving seats of the vehicles and fill the backs up with animals.

Britains Big Farm Toys are of a fabulous quality, with great detail but really durable for little fingers. They are lovely toys to introduce children to the world of farming and I envisage them providing many hours of play ahead.

I think they are well priced and have lasting value. They are also suitable for outdoor play which would provide great fun during the summer months. I’d definitely recommend these.
