Organic Shop Haircare from Tesco

Organic Shop haircare is available exclusively in Tesco and also online at Organic Shop online.  With a demand for natural beauty higher than ever this range of fruity haircare has been exclusively developed for Tesco stores with each item retailing at just £2.50

There are five different ingredient combinations to try out depending on your preferences and hair needs:

Coconut and Shea – moisturising, softness and revival

Argan and Amia – nourishing strength and striking lustre

Honey and Avocado – repairing, softness and vitality

Raspberry and Acai – volumising, strength and thickness

Pomegranate and Patchouli – invigorating, smoothness and perfection

I tried out Pomegranate and Patchouli to see what I thought. With a shampoo, conditioner and hair mask in the range it covers all aspects of hair cleanliness and moisturising.  The products all smelt really fresh and natural due them being packed with essential oils giving hair extra strength and vitality which is what I need with long hair that I regularly blow dry and straighten.  The pomegranate adds shine whilst the patchouli oil gives an intense boost of hydration which leaves hair soft.

I’ve been really happy using this bargain priced organic range which leaves my hair perfect for everyday, be it on the school run, at work or out at the weekend.  The Organic Shop products are simple to use – I love the pump bottles for ease of use in the shower – smell great and leave hair clean and fresh.

Knowing that there’s no harmful microbeads, no parabens, no SLS, no mineral oils and no GMO’s is a great bonus and of course completely free of testing on animals.  The packaging is recyclable and the price is great value for money – what more could you want?

Overall the Organic Shop range of haircare fits perfectly in with supermarket shop at Tesco and is something I’ll happily grab whilst I’m there.

An added bonus is that Organic Shop are running a fantastic competition at the moment to win an amazing 7 night holiday to Aruba in the Caribbean – check HERE to find out how to enter!

Herbal Essences bio:renew Shampoos and Conditioners

Herbal Essences bio:renew haircare is a range of natural shampoos and conditioners packed full of some amazing natural ingredients with various properties to suit all your hair needs.

Containing % parabens, silicones, gluten and colourants they really are natural and are literally clear or white in colour which I actually prefer. They are bursting with fragrance and I couldn’t wait to get them on my hair to try out.

Available in the following fragrance combinations:

  • Argan Oil of Morocco
  • Coconut Milk
  • White Grapefruit & Mosa Mint
  • Golden Moringa Oil
  • Cucumber & Green Tea
  • Rosemary & Herbs
  • White Strawberry & Sweet Mint

First up I was drawn to the Rosemary & Herbs being in a lilac bottle and I wasn’t disappointed!

Packed full of multi-layered scents of infused herbs, clean mint and sandalwood along with a blend of essential antioxidant, aloe and sea kelp this left my hair feeling ultra fresh, clean and soft.  It certainly didn’t leave any build up or residue to my hair felt light and renewed  – this is currently my favourite and one I’ll go back to!

White Grapefruit & Mosa Mint is bursting with fruity fragrance and helps boost volume. Again this is fresh and renewing and really depends on your preference of fragrance as to which you prefer.

Coconut Milk is really hydrating and does actually smell really lovely even though I’m not a huge coconut fan.  It really nourishes the hair and I have to say was the favourite with all my friends and family who gave it a try.

Overall I’m really impressed with the Herbal Essences bio:renew range and being honest it’s not a brand I’d probably have bought before trying it out over the last few weeks.  The bottles are a fantastic size making them great value and the products are really natural being clear or white in colour but still bursting with fragrance.  The Rosemary & Herbs from Herbal Essences has won me over although lots of my friends love the Coconut Milk so there really is something for everyone – why not give them a try yourself today?

Organic Head Brunette Conditioner by Daniel Galvin Jr

Daniel Galvin Jr’s range of hair care products are all made with a high proportion of organic ingredients and provide high quality hair care that is a pleasure to use and treats your hair well.  The Organic Head Brunette Shampoo and Conditioner are especially formulated with Daniel Galvin Jr’s exclusive brunette blend including sage to gradually darken brown hair, elderberry to add richness and lustre to darker locks and black tea to enhance chestnut tones.  I was looking forward to trying out the Brunette Conditioner on my long dark hair to see how it performed.

The conditioner comes in a generous 250ml size tube that is easy to dispense and perfect for standing on the side of the shower or bath. Made with 70% natural ingredients, I have to say when it is dispensed from the tube it does look really nourishing and wholesome.  With a creamy beige thick looking consistency I was eager to try it out on my hair.  After shampooing I applied the product and it’s thick creamy texture was pleasant and hydrating on my hair.  It felt very luxurious and nourishing really giving my hair the boost it needed.

The Daniel Galvin Jr Organic Head Brunette Shampoo and Conditioner is a really competent and quality product that I’d happily use after every wash.  It packed my hair full of hydration, left it super soft with added shine and richness.  I haven’t used it long enough to see how well the brunette enhancement performs but the Daniel Galvin Jr Oh! Conditioner itself has a rich feel to it and is definitely a product that suits my hair type and leaves it feeling luxuriously soft, smooth and well cared for!

Vosene Kids Haircare

My kids are at the stage where they like to try and wash their own hair in the shower now, although do need a bit of encouragement and the Vosene kids range is one that always keeps them happy and they love to use it.  They have a good variety of fruity fragrances and the kids loved the trolls on the recent packaging!

wp_20161207_14_53_44_proMiss M adores strawberries so was drawn to the 2 in 1 Shampoo with super strawberry fragrance.  It was so easy to use and left her hair clean and soft with a bit of added shine.

Mister B liked using the green bottle which was the 2 in 1 Shampoo with a fresh melon scent, his favourite fruit is currently melons so it was rather apt and again this left his hair clean and soft.

I really like the Pink Pomelo and Vitamin C 2 in 1 Shampoo and tried it out on the children a couple of times.  The fragrance is great and the results are good.  All in all the fruity combinations are a winner for children and 2 in 1 formulas are definitely the way to go for ease and speed, less messing about and the results are good.

wp_20161207_15_51_06_pro

The 3 in 1 Shampoo is also really great to use for my children during term time at school as it contains natural lice repellents such as tea tree oil and lemon eucalyptus oil.  It lathers up well and leaves hair soft although my children aren’t as keen on the fragrance as the fruity shampoos but when the head lice letter comes through from school as it frequently does, then I try to get them to use this for the next week to ensure they don’t catch lice whilst it’s spreading around the classroom.

To go alongside this is the Conditioning Defence Spray which has a clinically proven formula to prevent lice as well as detangling and smoothing properties.  I also try to squirt this onto the kids heads after washing to ensure they stay lice free.  It’s so simple to use and worth it, compared to the rather unpleasant and time consuming task of removing lice from your child’s head (and I should know having had to deal with it several times over the last few years!).

Overall we are very happy with the Vosene Kids range, love using it and the kids love the fragrances.  I’m pleased with the cleanliness and softness of the hair so it’s a win all round!

Time Bomb Larger Than Life Hair Care

After trying a number of skincare products from Time Bomb, I was excited to try out their Larger Than Life Shampoo & Conditioner.  With the ability to cleanse, soften, detangle and volumise they sounded like just the thing for regular use on my long straight hair.

14E3ABB8-3DED-4E33-B2D2-171956D47DD6

The products come in easy to dispense tubes and upon opening they smelt absolutely divine!  I couldn’t wait to try these out and when I did, they certainly didn’t disappoint.  The shampoo easily lathered and cleansed the hair really well, the smell was amazing and my hair felt great after that.  With the addition of the conditioner, my hair felt ultra soft and bouncy and of course was wonderfully fragrant.  It also contains a unique vitamin peptide complex helps improve hair’s condition, making it look thicker and stronger

I absolutely love these Time Bomb hair care products and if you are looking for a little bit of luxury for your hair, then these are the products to use.  The tubes are large too, so will last a while which is good because at £16.50 each they aren’t the cheapest of hair products but they are definitely worth it for a treat!

Back to School Hair with Bathtime Buddies

With the new school term recently having started, it’s time to think about how best to look after, maintain and style the children’s hair for school.  Bathtime Buddies kindly sent me a bundle of goodies for the children to use and get us thinking about haircare.

bathtime buddies 1My children were very excited when they saw their goodies, Miss M absolutely loved her Disney princess towel and they were both eager for bathtime that evening.  I do think one of the important things with children is that they enjoy what they are doing and are motivated so by using appealing items and products in the bath it really helps.

Miss M has very thick, unruly curls that turn into matted tangles very easily.  Washing her hair is a bit of a challenge trying to tease them out by endlessly combing through using a tangle teasing brush.  Seeing the Disney Ariel shampoo and detangler that had arrived meant that she was in a good mood for hair washing that evening which is always a good start.

bathtime buddies 2The shampoos from Bathtime Buddies smell lovely and come in an easy to use squeezy bottle.  The children love squirting a blob out themselves into their hand and rubbing it into their hair.   Mister B’s hair is very short so it’s simply wash and go for him, no styling required.  When it’s a bit longer he does like to spike it up in the bath but he had it cut short a few weeks ago ready for back to school!

Miss M loves to wash her hair herself which I think is a great although I do have to do an extra condition and comb through to tease out those unruly tangles.  Due to her curls we are unable to brush her hair when dry so it’s hard to get her to style her own hair, its also a challenge trying to tie it up as hairbands don’t glide easily over her curls.

We’ve found for school the best styles are tied up, preferable in plaits.  If I’m short of time we do stick to a basic ponytail which is quick and lets her curls tumble down but becomes quite tangled at the end of the day.  Plaits are definitely the best way to keep hair tangle free and also keeps the hair a bit cleaner for longer.  We have several variations of plaits that we use from one bit chunky plait, to two separate plaits, one each side of the head.

bathtime buddies 6Miss M also likes her hair in one ponytail and then split that into two to create two plaits from one starting point but her current favourite style is fishtail plaits where you braid a smaller piece of hair across the plait each time rather than a whole section as shown below.

bathtime buddies 5My top tip for school haircare is to plait the hair when damp the night before.  You can then get away with leaving them in the morning and go straight to school or if you want a quick tidy up, they are easy to undo and quickly replait rather than having to drag the brush through and detangle again, not an easy job with Miss M’s curls!

If you want to find out more about back to school haircare and ideas then Bathtime Buddies are holding a “Back to School Haircare” twitter party on Thursday 18th September at 1pm!!  Make sure you are following them on twitter @bathtimebuddies

H&A Kid’s Character Haircare Range – Review and Win

H&A have launched a new kids hair care range to compliment there already successful bath time kids ranges.  With a variety of character hair care products on offer there is sure to be something to entice you child to have their hair washed.  I know with 3yr old Mister B it’s always easy to wash his hair whilst in the bath without him noticing too much but 6yr old Miss M’s hair is a nightmare and she begs me not to wash it due to her natural curls that tangle up.

Shampoo 1For Mister B we received the Ben 10 shampoo.  It has a mild and gentle formula that is all important “tear free”, a must have for little ones.  It has a citrus fragrance which is fresh and fruity, but light giving hair a nice clean smell.

So what did Mister B think?  When he saw the tube, he grabbed it, gave it a cuddle, then danced around the room shouting “Ben 10, Ben 10, I’ve got Ben 10 shampoo, Ben 10, can I use this in the bath mummy, I love Ben 10”

shampoo 5So the packaging definitely appealed and when we it reached bath time that night he excitedly took it up with him and couldn’t wait to squirt it on his head.

What did mummy think?  I thought it was great, simple to use, easily lathered up, ran down his face with no tears and left him with soft, cleaning smelling hair – I can’t ask for more than that!

I must just comment on the packaging of the H&A hair care range.  All the shampoos come in large tubes which stand on a nice wide lid so don’t easily fall over.  I love that the product sits at the opening end so that you can quickly and easily squirt a blob into your hand or your child’s head with no fuss.  The tube is flexible and easy to squeeze, so I give the design of these tubes a big thumbs up!

Miss M tried out Disney Princess Ariel’s range of products from H&A which consist of a conditioning shampoo and a detangler spray.  The products immediately appealed to Miss M and although she would rather not wash her hair, she wanted to try these out on the days I insisted that we had to wash it!

shampoo 2

The shampoo has a fruity fresh fragrance which Miss M immediately picked up on and said “I like that smell” as we started to wash her hair.  As with the Ben 10 shampoo, this lathered up easily, leaving the hair feeling clean and fresh.  You can tell the shampoo’s have conditioning properties as you could feel the hair was softer and more manageable after shampooing, a good start in getting rid of those tangles.

shampoo 3With Miss M’s coarse curly locks the only way we can truly brush it is when wet using a large amount of conditioner and a tangle brush.  Although her hair felt softer and the tangles had eased we did have to add a separate conditioner in order to ease the matted tangles out.  Most children would have a great result using just the conditioning shampoo, but Miss M’s hair is an extreme exception and one that I’ve had to learn to manage over the last few years.  I think it’d be great to see a separate conditioner in the range for children that need it.

Once left to towel dry for 10 minutes we sprayed some of the Ariel detangler spray which Miss M loved the fruity fragrance of.  It really helped her tangle brush glide through the damp hair and in particular allowed me to separate it ready for plaiting.  As recommended on the bottle of Ariel detangler, a great way of keeping tangles at bay is to keep your hair in plaits.  This is something we do regularly with Miss M as when her hair is down it ends up a knotted mess by the end of the day and impossible to brush out or style the next day without another wash.

Without the Ariel detangler, the hair would have started to frizz which leads to tangles and so I’d highly recommend this to aid combing and styling.  It also has a heat defence formula to protect hair should you require it.  Being able to use this spray on both wet and dry hair it’s perfect for us to use each morning to redo Miss M’s plaits.  The Ariel detangler spray is a daily staple for us and we wouldn’t be without it!

Ariel picsWe’ve really enjoyed trying out the H&A hair care products, they are great value, the children love them and they work!

shampoo 6The products above as well as other in the range are all RRP £2.00 and available from Tesco and Wilkinson.
