Hyena’s Hide Out Playset from The Lion Guard

Disney’s The Lion Guard tv series is popular with young children and has certainly been a hit with my little boy.  Being a spin off from the The Lion King, it has mass appeal and my little boy loves playing with the toys from the series and has got to know all the characters from the show, from the goodies such as Kion and to the baddies such as the Hyenas.  Here we are going to show you the baddies home, the Hyena’s Hide Out Playset from Flair Toys.

The playset is a good size and can be split into two parts if you wish.  Although it looks fairly simple, it is packed full of traps and hideouts which lend a hand to a child’s imagination and something my little boy thrives on.  His imagination ran wild with this creating all sorts of adventures and games for The Lion Guard characters to play.

The set consists of a mountain like structure with various caves, traps and hideouts.  It also includes a moveable hyena figure to play with and others can easily be added to the set to encourage play.  Although the playset can be parted into two pieces my little boy preferred to keep it as one.  On one side is a tree branch that animals can sit into and be twisted up and down to keep watch on oncoming visitors.

Underneath the main part is jaw bone jail, this is opened by a small lever and can trap visiting animals inside.  Beware if you are standing at the bottom of the rock as the boulder can easily be released to roll into you!  If the boulder rolls the other way however the rock bridge will collapse, so danger on both sides.  The red lava panel also lifts up to reveal a hidden cave for the hyena to hide in.

This playset has kept my little boy playing for hours, he is very imaginative and a toy like this sets the scene for him and enables him to enjoy lots of time playing and creating different scenarios.  The toy is very well built and durable with moving parts being easy to use.

Mister B has enjoyed bringing his other The Lion Guard playset to play with together, giving a home for the goodies and one for the baddies, creating the ultimate The Lion Guard world to play with.  There are various toys available in the range and they all mix and match easily together for fun play times.  You can also check out my review for Defend the Pride Lands playset which is the biggest toy in the range.

U Hugs Customisable Dolls – Review

U Hugs are a new range of customisable dolls from Flair, that come with interchangeable accessories to create a multitude of looks.   The dolls comes with holes across the body to insert the accessory pins onto.  Each doll comes with 12 pins although you can mix and match these across any of the dolls.

U HugsWe receivd Sassy Fashion and Scary Baby to try out.  Aimed at children 5+, my daughter was quite excited at the sight of these and couldn’t wait to get them out of their boxes.  The dolls are made from a soft rubber, so are easy to play with and place the accessories into the holes.

U Hugs 2What is really clever and thought out about with these dolls is that they have a panel on the back of their bodies which unpins to reveal a cavity inside the doll, in which you can store most of the small accessories.  This is a brilliant idea as with most toys and small parts, they can easily get lost amongst other toys and it’s hard to find the bits you want.

U Hugs 4The U Hugs dolls have interchangeable eyes, mouths, accessories for their hands and holes in the front of their bodies.  The shoes can even be turned around for a different look.  The jacket on Sassy Fashion can be removed as can Scary Baby’s nappy.

Here are some different looks Miss M created by switching the pins around. She seems to enjoy the dolls and playing with the pins and is often found carrying one of these dolls around with her.

U Hugs 3The U Hugs are a new breed of dolls and so far there are six different models to collect.  They are fun, can be changed around to reflect your mood, style, feel for the day giving them a new look each morning.

U Hugs 5We’ve enjoyed these dolls, why not check out the range now?

Disney Frozen Elsa Magic Snow Sleeve – Review

Disney Frozen Elsa Magic Snow Sleeve is one of the latest Frozen toys to be released by Flair and is sure to have instant appeal to any Frozen fans out there.  A sleeve that can be worn on your arm, with a can of magic snow attached that dispenses when you lift your arm in the air, turning the world into an icy, snowy scene just like Elsa.

frozen sleeveWe also received a Princess Elsa costume from Rubies, a well made costume with plenty of pretty detail and detachable snowflake veil.

frozen sleeve 2The Disney Frozen Elsa Magic Snow Sleeve consisted of a plastic holder, a decorative turquoise sleeve to wear, a can of magic snow and a plastic reusable water bottle to use when the magic snow can has run out.

frozen sleeve 1We found the can/water bottle simple to attach to the holder and Miss M did this on her own along with putting it on her arm.  And then came the magic….

frozen sleeve 3I have to say I have never seen two children so giggly, excited and caught in the moment of snowy mayhem!

The only disappoint was that after just a few minutes the can of magic snow was empty and I had two children desperate to continue play.  We then filled up the water bottle which works in the same way although requires pumping (so pushing your hand forward and back) rather than a continuous spray like the snow.

This did allow the fun to continue and I can see the children having fun with this during the summer in the garden.

Don’t forget that Frozen Fever, the new short sequel film to Frozen is released on 27th March, perfect to watch with any young Frozen fans.

Tom and Jerry Tricky Trap House – Review

Tom and Jerry Tricky Trap House from Flair is a calamity filled house of traps and jokes that keep Tom and Jerry on the tails of each other as they frantically chase each other around.  Tom and Jerry are one of my childhood cartoon memories, always on for five minutes in between other things that always captured and en-tranced both me and my younger brother.

The Tom and Jerry Tricky Trap House is a fold out playset house with 10 mechanical traps along with 2 character figures, Tom and Jerry.

tom & jerryUpon hearing about this house I thought it’d be right up Mister B’s street, being the little joker that he is and I wasn’t wrong.  His eyes lit up when he saw it and being only vaguely aware of Tom and Jerry beforehand, he soon grasped the idea and had poor Jerry being chased around the house by Tom!!

tom & jerry 1The house opens up to reveal two floors on each side with numerous traps awaiting our two friends Tom and Jerry.  I guided Mister B around the various traps available which he found really exciting and couldn’t wait to begin play.  I had to be Jerry and he was Tom as he chased me round the house, his favourite was trapping me under the drop down chandelier!

tom & jerry 2There are various traps across the house such as the drop down chandelier, a drop floor shower, a smash through door, a drop leg piano, a pop out fridge, a hidey hole in the roof with drop through floor, a flip up bed, a hide behind sofa and a blast off rocket.  Outside there is also a swing seat that once you sit on, it snaps in half!!

tom & jerry 3Mister B loved the blast off rocket and that led to hours of fun, putting either Tom or Jerry inside and flying it across the front room.  He particularly thought it was hilarious blasting Jerry into space when mummy was being Tom and laughing at me as the rocket flew through the sky as he escaped and poor Tom was stuck on the ground!

tom & jerry 5The quality of the playset is a little less than I was expecting and does look at bit plasticy and cheap.  We also had the shower wall fall off which I luckily mended as Mister B is rather fond of letting someone fall through the floor of the shower!

Saying that, the quality didn’t bother Mister B who did actually have endless fun with this and has thoroughly enjoyed playing with it as I thought he would.  He had a constant grin on his face whilst playing and found it hilarious every time he trapped someone, declaring himself the winner!!

tom & jerry 2The Tom and Jerry playset has proved to be lots of fun and kept Mister B entertained, I like the way it folds up and it isn’t overly big so doesn’t take up too much room.  Make sure you put both Tom and Jerry inside when packing away so they are always there when you want to play.  Jerry is quite small so can easily get mislaid amongst other toys.

Retailing around the £24.99 mark, I guess it’s a fair price for what you get.

tom & jerry 4We’ve had lots of fun with the Tom and Jerry Tricky Trap House, more than I expected so for me it’s a been a good value toy that has encouraged a lot of imaginative play.  I think any little Tom and Jerry fan would be happy to receive this if they enjoy the antics they get up to and want to replicate them.  Mister B certainly gives this a big thumbs up!
