Keeping the Kids Active with Garden Games from Addo Play

With the warmer weather and drier days upon us it’s great to get the children outdoors and enjoying the fresh air.  When at home it’s good to have things to encourage them to go out in the garden away from technology and Addo Play have an Out and About range of simple garden toys that are great value for money and can be played both in the garden or taken out with you to the park, beach etc.  All toys are available from The Entertainer toy shop.

We were sent a few items from the range to try out:

The Mini Soccer Goal is actually a really lovely set for young budding footballers.  I’d say this is more aimed at younger players although I’m surprised at how much fun my two children have had playing with this. It comes as a set which includes push together poles and corner pieces, anchor pegs, a small football and pump.

My children have had so much fun with this over the last couple of weeks. My 8yr old isn’t a huge football player at school but really enjoyed kicking the ball into the goal himself – a great way for him to keep occupied and moving about outside.  He also played with his football mad sister and they created little obstacle games to play to get the ball into the goal.  They’ve literally had this out everyday that it’s been dry and sunny in the garden which is great to see.

Next up is the Racket Set which comes with two rackets, a ball and a shuttlecock.

I like that this comes with two ways to play, either ball or shuttlecock and the bats themselves look really nice with a soft padded handle.  My children got stuck in straight away with these playing along the garden.  I actually think these would be great to take on holidays for either an open space at the beach or a park – a great activity that adults can join in too for a bit of family outdoor fun!

Finally we tried out the Baseball Bat & Ball set which was a surprising hit.  I wasn’t sure how much they would play with this but it’s actually been a fantastic addition to our garden games collection.

The children used the bat to create a mini game of rounders in the garden.  They put some cones down as markers, asked daddy and me to join in and we played our own little version of rounders, trying to run around the cones before the others got our ball back to one of the bases.

Whilst playing on their own they just practiced bowling the ball and improving their batting technique!

Overall these garden games are great value for money and simple sports that children will enjoy and keep them active.

Having Fun with Nick Jr Ready Steady Dough

My children have always liked playing with dough, they love the feel of it between their fingers and quite frankly just love the idea of cutting, moulding, rolling and basically being creative as they like with it.  So they were excited when they found out that we would be trying out some of the new sets from Addo Play, which are available to purchase from The Entertainer toy shop.

The children were delighted to spend an evening after school last week in Ready Steady Dough heaven with a multitude of colours and tools at their disposal which kept them occupied for several hours.  They had plungers, shape cutters, a rolling pin, moulds and a rather cool squeezy machine.

The Squeezy Shape Station was a big hit, having lots of different shapes through which you can squeeze your dough by pressing down the large easy to press lever.  It had them in giggles at first seeing large spaghetti like shapes oozing out of the machine which gave them new textures to squidge and press together between their fingers rather than a large lump of dough.

Also included in this set and the Lots of Pots set are a couple of plungers so we had four different ones in total which work on a similar basis for smaller amounts of dough at a time. They loved watching it come out the other side, such a simple thing but fascinating for them as they saw the dough transform which they could use to be creative with or squidge back together.

5yr old Mister B soon got into the flow of things and was making himself special super power bracelets as well as other crazy things as his imagination flowed.

Miss M squeezed out a big thick line of white dough which she turned into the number eight, to represent her age.  Meanwhile Mister B had made his own dinner – a pot of purple pasta!

Miss M then made some thinner strands with the Squeezy Shape Station which she used to practise her plaits.  It wasn’t long before she came up with her own unique creation which she was really proud off.

As you can see both children thoroughly enjoyed their evening of dough fun and will have much enjoyment with it again in the future.  These sets are good fun, great value and have hours of entertainment in them as they can be used time and time again.  Why not check out the Nick Jr Ready Steady Dough range available from The Entertainer right now?  Some great Christmas and Birthday ideas!!

Water Play Toys from the Entertainer

When the days are hot and the sun is blasting on the garden, there is nothing kids love more than playing with water, whether it be in a paddling pool, water guns or another form of water, the children just love getting wet and cooling off in the heat.  Addo toys have come up with a fabulous range of Storm Blasters water guns covering various sizes and price points all available from The Entertainer.

We tried out the Hurricane Warrior, the largest water gun at £10 which can fire up to 10m and holds 2000ml.  We also had the mid range Tornado Trooper  at £6 which fires up to 7m and holds 1000ml and then the smaller Jet Stream which retails for just £2!

The children were so excited to try these out and spent the evening soaking each other and informed me that “These are the best water guns ever mummy!”.

They certainly did blast out a lot of water and were quite powerful but in the hot weather the kids love it and they are being active with plenty of running around.

Something completely new and different for us is the Zuru Bunch O Balloons which are basically water bombs.  There are 100 balloons split into three bunches.  To blow up each bunch you simply attach a hosepipe to the top, turn it on and the balloons instantly inflate and as the weight of them drops down you do a sharp tug of the hose and the balloons release from the sticks and self seal with the bands around them.

This is such a clever idea which the kids loved.  They couldn’t wait to get started and they were giggling throughout their water fight.  The balloons are a fun idea and just adds a bit of extra excitement into an afternoon of water play.

As you can see my two children just love water play in the garden and it’s a great way to get kids outdoors and cool off in the Summer months.
