Kion Lionguard Talking Plush Toy

The Lion Guard from Disney Junior has been a huge success both in the programme and toy ranges.  Being a spin off from the original The Lion King, it’s sure to appeal to little ones and something us adults can look back on fondly and share with our children as well as enjoy the new Lion Guard series. The new range of talking plush toys are fabulous for little ones and come in either Kion the lion or his best friend Bunga the badger.  We received Kion to try out  from Flair toys and he certainly didn’t disappoint!

Each character is approximately 30cm in size, made to an exceptionally high standard and looks great in both detail and stature.  Being high quality means this little lion plush can not only stand on it’s own four legs but can also sit down on his hind legs independently looking really cute.  A key feature on each character is the ‘Mark of the Guard’ badge on one of their fore legs which lights up as it is pressed.  Each time you press the badge you’ll here one of four unique phrases and sounds.

So what did we think of the Kion plush toy?

The Kion plush from The Lion Guard is utterly adorable and hasn’t left my little boys arms since he received it.  It goes to bed with him every night and he plays with it by day.  It’s a great size, we love it’s quality and it’s a toy I’d definitely recommend to any young The Lion Guard fans.  The detail on the face is perfect and realistic, it has a mouth that is open ready to roar and the whole body is super soft and perfect for cuddles.

The Snowman and The Snowdog Soft Toy – Review

I remember growing up watching the Raymond Briggs film, The Snowman each Christmas, and now my children get to watch both the original along with it’s sequel.  Released 30 years after the original, The Snowman and The Snowdog is a great traditional film which will be shown on Channel 4 this Christmas that we’ll be sure to watch.  It is a very festive easy to watch movie, that all the family can sit down and enjoy and kids across all ages will love.

snowdog2As part of the new range of associated gifts available this year, I’m taking part in the 12 Days of Christmas with The Snowman and The Snowdog blog tour, which showcases the various items available from books, dvd’s to Thornton chocolate gifts.

I received The Snowdog soft toy to try out and I have to say he is super soft, making him really tactile for little ones.  Available now from Amazon and all good independents, he retails for an rrp of £9.99.

snowdogThe Snowdog is suitable from birth and along with his soft, squishy, white body he has a textured patch on each side.  He also has odd, patterned socks for ears, that little ones will love to touch and cling on to.  Mister B has already taken ownership of him in our house and is a regular at bedtime.  I’ve told Mister B all about the film and he can’t wait to watch it now and see his little snowdog on the screen – a perfect accompaniment and keepsake for the film.

snowdog3Here’s a taster video of The Snowman and The Snowdog film being shown this Christmas on Channel 4 – keep an eye out, we will be and look forward to cosying up on the sofa to watch it:

The blog tour continues at http://madhousefamilyreviews.blogspot.co.uk/ tomorrow so make sure you pop by to find out about another of The Snowman and The Snowdog gifts.

Ultimate Spider-Man Go Glow Pal – Review

Ultimate Spiderman Go Glow Pal from Worlds Apart is a wonderful soft Spiderman that you can cuddle that doubles as a nightlight by simply pressing his tummy which lights up his eyes.

spidermanMister B is a huge Spiderman fan and he was thrilled when he saw the Spiderman Go Glow and couldn’t wait to give it a cuddle.  Mister B does struggle with the dark and night so this is a perfect way to allow a little light into his room and reassure him if he feels scared.  Below you can read about a recent survey that Go Glow carried out with parents:

BANISH MONSTERS WITH GOGLOW®

With darker evenings nearly upon us, children’s lighting brand GoGlow® has conducted a survey to find the answer, and it is as simple as fears of what is lurking in the dark.

Asking 1,000 parents, the survey revealed monsters as the main reason under fives were afraid of the dark (67%). With fears of the dark at an all time high in October when the clocks go back and the nights become shorter.

HOW TO BANISH FEARS!

Seven in ten parents make a special effort to walk around their child’s bedroom to prove there are no monsters hiding.  With three quarters of children getting out of bed to seek reassurance from their parents, the survey went on to find night-lights were the most reassuring solution that helped stop scary shadows.

If you are looking for a way to ease your little ones fears of the dark, children’s sleep expert and founder of Millpond Children’s Sleep Clinic, Mandy Gurney has a fun tip to help:

“If your child is afraid of the dark, offer them the reassurance of a night light to have nearby when they need it. You could even play hide and seek, in the late afternoon, using a GoGlow® torch, so they realise there’s nothing to be afraid of.”

spiderman 1As you can see above Mister B is really happy with his Spiderman Go Glow, it is well made and a good size, perfect for bedtime cuddles.  There are suckers on the hands to stick Spiderman to your wall or bed while you sleep.  The light is really quite bright and great for little ones to use in the night although the great thing is it switches itself off after 15 minutes.  It requires 3 AAA batteries which are included when you buy it so it is ready to go.

spiderman 2This night light has worked really well for us and totally put Mister B at ease in the dark.  He has wandered into our bedroom in the night a couple of times and we have seen to big white Spiderman eyes glowing guiding his way.  I think it’s great to find a night light with a character your little ones love as it really does help them to drift off to sleep!
