Ravensburger Cinderella Carriage 3D Puzzle

Ravensburger Cinderella Carriage 3D Puzzle is a really beautiful puzzle when finished and would take pride of place in any little girls bedroom on the shelf once complete.  With 72 pieces and aimed at 6-10 year old’s this puzzle is a delight to do and a pleasure to look at once finished in it’s 3D glory.

The puzzle comes with the really sturdy 3D pieces, some cardboard pieces to build the carriage and a guide in case you haven’t attempted a 3D puzzle before.

The puzzle pieces are cleverly numbered on the back and you need to find each piece in number order in order to assemble easily and enable the curves to form simply as you build.  Both my children age 6 and 9 are fascinated by 3D puzzles and eagerly worked together searching for the pieces and helped each other build the finished creation.

With a bit of teamwork it wasn’t long before the entire puzzle came together and a complete spherical ball shape had formed.  It looks fabulous and is really sturdy as the pieces are plastic and strong.  The whole structure stays together perfectly and looks lovely sitting upon the carriage.  The ball can be turned around with Cinderella on one side and the fairy godmother on the other.

The Ravensburger Cinderella Carriage 3D Puzzle is a beautiful 3D puzzle that the children loved building and one that looks lovely and can be kept as a decorative piece to admire on a shelf or broken up and done time and time again.  We love Ravensburger puzzles in general and the 3D ones give an extra dimension that brings them to life so if you have a Disney Cinderella fan in your house, this is well worth checking out as it’s sure to be loved by all!

Shaker Maker Disney Princess Cinderella and Rapunzel

Shaker Maker Disney Princess Cinderella and Rapunzel from Cool Create is a fun, simple plaster kit for children that allows them to create decorative pieces that they can enjoy on the shelves in their bedroom.

Shaker MakerThe shaker maker consists of a Shaker Maker pod, 2 princess moulds, 2 packs of plaster, 2 stands and a paint set, everything you need to complete this kit.

Shaker Maker 2I wasn’t sure what to expect with the Shaker Maker and how messy it would be but I have to say I was really impressed – so simple for a child to use and completely mess free!

All you have to do is add some warm tap water into one half of the shaker pod up to a certain line then tip the bag of plaster in.  In the lid, insert one of the princess moulds then screw the lid on to the base.  Shake well and then tip so that the mould is at the bottom and the plaster mixture sits perfectly in the mould, no mess, no touching it, all the hard work is done for you.

Shaker Maker 3Then gently tap the sides to remove air bubbles and leave to stand for at least an hour to dry out.

Shaker Maker 4My daughter couldn’t wait to start painting them which is a part she really enjoyed.  The paint brush that is included is really fine, much better than the usual brushes you get with kids kits, which enabled my daughter to try and add some detail.

Shaker Maker 5I think the finished results look great and this is a great kit for kids to get crafty with, experiencing plaster moulding and painting.  This would make a great gift anytime, something they can enjoy doing and something that they can keep after.  The moulds are also reusable so if you buy some more plaster you can make some more princesses!

Disney Cinderella 100 piece Puzzle from Ravensburger

The Disney Cinderella puzzle from Ravensburger is a beautiful puzzle depicting the various outfits of Cinderella along with her fairy godmother and ugly sisters, aimed at children 6+.

cinderella puzzleMiss M’s eyes lit up when she saw the puzzle and couldn’t wait to give it a try.  Having turned 7yrs old at the start of the year I was keen to see how well she could do this puzzle herself.  She began and with a few prompts from me to search for the edges and corners first, I let her do the entire puzzle herself which gave her a great sense of achievement on completion.

cinderella 1The puzzle pieces are nicely cut and a good size for her age.  With different characters and outfits to look for, it helped make the puzzle a little easier to do.  She soon got into the swing of it and started finding the pieces she needed and getting excited when she recognised what area of the puzzle pieces came from.

cinderella 3The finished Cinderella puzzle looked beautiful and coincides perfectly with the film Cinderella that has just been released.  The puzzle has lots of detail but is perfectly suitable to the age group suggested.

Miss M really enjoyed sitting, completing the puzzle and with a little determination, did it all by herself!

Orion Early Reader Books – Princesses and Horrid Henry

With Miss M’s love of reading, her ability to independently read is progressing well and the Early Reader books from Orion are ideal in making that step from large picture books to proper grown up books.  Miss M loves that they are broken down into small chapters (chapters make her feel very grown up) and the text is interspersed with pictures to help maintain interest and entertain.

princesses bookA Palace Full of Princesses is a delightful book for any little girl containing four classic princess fairytales.

  • Cinderella
  • Snow White
  • Sleeping Beauty
  • The Frog Prince

Each story is broken down into chapters making it easy to read but the storyline has kept to the traditional fairytales we all know and love just written in an update way for children to enjoy.

This early reader book is simple enough for 5 yr old Miss M to read although there are a good selection of new or longer words to challenge her and make her think or ask for assistance.  She loves the pictures to go with the story and it gives her confidence in what she is reading to ensure she understands the story properly.

palace of princesses orion booksI love this collection of princess stories, a perfect addition to any young girl’s bookshelf.  The book printed on top quality paper with a high glossy cover.  This would make a lovely present for any little girl this Christmas.

Horrid Henry royal riotHorrid Henry is one of Miss M’s favourite characters, she is mesmerised by his naughtiness and he always has her in fits of giggles when she watches the programme on television.  Now that she has started to read, Horrid Henry books are a great choice for her as it is a character she knows and loves, so she finds it easier to pick up the storyline.

Horrid Henry’s Royal Riot is a collection of four Horrid Henry books presented in a beautiful hard back book.

  • Horrid Henry’s Thank You Letter
  • Horrid Henry Meets the Queen
  • Moody Margaret’s School
  • Horrid Henry’s Sports Day

Each story is broken down into chapters with plenty of entertaining illustrations to keep your child occupied.  Miss M likes to look at the pictures before she reads each page which I think also helps her read the next part.  Miss M found this book a little trickier than the princesses book but only because it’s written with a lot of conversation between Henry and others, and she’s never quite sure where to pause for breath.  We found to start with I read one page and she read the next which kept her motivation up.

We started with Horrid Henry’s Thank You Letter which is about Horrid Henry not wanting to write his thank you letters after Christmas and the battle of his parents trying to get him to do them.  Eventually he did them and then found a way to make money out of writing them on behalf of his friends,  I’ll let you read the rest.

Horrid Henry royal riot pagesHorrid Henry’s Royal Riot is a lovely early reader book that boys and girls will love equally.  And with four stories under one cover this has to be a book that will last and children will read again and again.  Another great gift idea this Christmas for young readers out there.

Disney Princess Cinderella Musical Jewellery Box

Most little girls love being princesses, dressing up as them and wearing replica jewellery so the Cinderella jewellery box from Disney Princess is the perfect place to store their jewels as well as being a pretty box to accessorise their bedrooms into the perfect princess boudoir.

DSCF5112The Cinderella jewellery box, although made of plastic has been beautifully designed with lots of detail.  The main body of the jewellery box is shaped like Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage with intricately designed wheels with a pink ribbon on the centre.  The outside of the jewellery box is very ornate including a very pretty lace effect across the lid with small pearl like beading around the edge.  On top between a couple of blue scrolls is a silver coloured Cinderella shoe which is detail that Miss M loved.  Around the edge of the carriage is a pretty pink ribbon effect and on the front of the carriage is a Cinderella button that is used to open the jewellery box.

Cinderella

Upon opening the Cinderella jewellery box a glass like Cinderella and Prince Charming start twirling around in the centre along to music – This was Miss M’s favourite feature of the box and she loves to open the box again and again to watch the figures dancing around and listen to the music.  Around the centrepiece figures are two pink trays to store jewellery on and these swing open to reveal 4 storage compartments.  There is also a mirror on the inside of the lid.

Cinderella3The Cinderella jewellery box also comes with some jewellery which Miss M was thrilled with.  There is a blue beaded charm bracelet – the charm being a Cinderella shoe and a large blue heart shaped ring.  Miss M couldn’t wait to try these on and even did the bracelet up herself!   They are a lovely addition to any little girls jewellery collection and Miss M loves wearing them each day ( I had to refuse for school!!).

Overall we really like the Disney Princess Cinderella jewellery box and think it is the perfect accessory to any little girls bedroom.  Not only does it have great storage for all their jewellery but looks great on a shelf and plays appealing music to any young princess.  This would make a lovely Christmas present and gets Miss M’s seal of approval with a big thumbs up!!
