Moonpig – the One Stop Online Birthday Cards & Gift Shop – Review

Moonpig is known for it’s celebration cards, particulary the ability to personalise them online.  You can even send them straight to the recipient in time for their special day.  A very handy service in normal times but even more so during the Covid pandemic where we’ve been stuck at home.  Going back to high street shopping just isn’t the same anymore.

Who wants to queue outside shops waiting to go inside?  Then be sent on a one way system that rushes you around not being able to browse.  Not forgetting wearing a mask the whole time which I certainly don’t enjoy for more than a few minutes!

This is where Moonpig comes in super handy for all your celebration needs.  They sell not only cards, which can of course be personalised, but flowers, chocolates, sweets, balloons and a vast array of gifts to suit all ages.  In fact I was pleasantly surprised at the choice.  Thinking it would be just the usual box of chocolates or flower gifts but they actually do so much more besides that.  I was particually impressed with how well they catered for younger giftees.  It’s fantastic that you can order a card and present fromjust one website and have it delivered to someone just in time for their special day.

Moonpig kindly sent me over a selection of gifts suitable for my 10 year old who celebrated his first “double digits” year last week!  I do love personalised cards and both myself and my daughter had fun online creating some.  These rather fantastic Large size glossy cards come complete with name, age and photo’s incorporated into the design.

No birthday is complete without balloons and you can either choose various options.  We receive these rather fabulous ‘Let’s Party’ air filled balloons that you blow up yourself with the included straw.  It was actually really simple and far less effort then blowing up traditional balloons with the bonus of thembeingreusable.

I have to say Moonpig have a particularly impressive choice of sweet treats. Catering for all ages from retro sweet jars to posh chocolate boxes there is something for everyone.  My boy was very happy with this rather cool hamper of sweets and a particually impressive looking chocolate pizza.

Perfect for younger audiences are some of the game and activity gifts you can choose from.  My 10 year old loves playing Minecraft online so this Minecraft Builders & Biomes board game is fantastic and great for all the family to join in with.  I feel like I’ll become an expert in Minecraft after just one game!! lol  Endermen or Creepers anyone?

Any fan of Harry Potter will surely love the Harry Potter version of the classic game Cluedo.  We’ve played the original version many times, but this one certainly added interest to my kids who are big fans.  The Kitchen Science kit from KidzLabs looks like great fun too, you just need to add a few basic items and then have some kitchen science fun.

Overall I can’t fault Moonpig in any aspect of it’s service.  Personalised cards ordered late afternoon – arrived the next day.  We had balloons, sweet treats and birthday gifts, all perfect for my 10 year old.  All from one website and can be ordered altogether.  So if you are stuck at home, or don’t want to venture out in this during these difficult times – you know where to shop!!  Moonpig.com!!

Alphabet Cards from The Appealing Rabbit – Review

Alphabet Cards from The Appealing Rabbit are a rather cute, large size deck of cards designed to assist your children to practice their letter writing.  The pack comes in a box which includes a black wipeable pen with eraser on the end.

alphabetThe set contains all 26 letters of the English alphabet plus a couple of extra for other languages.  Be aware that the letters included are all capital letters so probably best for a slightly older child than one who is only just learning their letters.

alphabet3Mister B is 4 yrs old and has known his small letters for a while now.  He recognises all his capital letters but hasn’t had much practice writing them other than those in his name so this was a good opportunity for him to get used to them.

alphabet2The Alphabet Cards are glossy and fully wipeable from pen marks making them durable and a bit tougher than normal cards.  What I really love about them though is the illustrations.  Such cute, hand drawn designs, really different and unique from anything else I’ve seen.  They also give you talking points to have with children, such as what objects they can see in the pictures, which always goes off on a tangent with Mister B and he finds plenty to chat about once given a starting point.

alphabet4These beautifully designed cards are an interactive way for children to learn their letters.  You can even play a game with them and there is a score card to mark points.  If your child completes a letter neatly they get a point, if not you get the point.  Obviously they want to win, so it encourages them to try hard.

This is a cute set that is handy to carry around and play when travelling and either in or out of the house.

Gorgeous Mother’s Day Cards – Review

With Mother’s Day on it’s way very soon on Sunday 15th March, finding the perfect Mother’s Day card can sometimes be tricky.  Made With Love have some really beautiful and totally unique designs that I’m sure any mum would truly love.

mothers day cardsThe cards are delivered in a box, each wrapped in tissue to protect their pretty decoration.  Each card is printed on pearlised card, with a pearlised paper inner layer inside.  My cards are blank inside but you can have them personalised with any words you like and also additional words added to the front on certain cards.   These cards do come with “Happy Mother’s Day” on the front already.

mothers day cards 2I think the designs are beautiful and I would be more than happy to receive a card like this and know my mum would love them too.  The first two cards above are adorned with a vintage style crystal cluster and one has Nottingham lace with satin ribbon on.

The third card is for a child to give to their mum.  It has four sentences that are started then there is a space for your child to continue writing and complete the sentence. They are:

My Mummy laughs when I…

My Mummy loves me because…

If I could give Mummy anything it would be…

I love my Mummy because…

This is such a lovely idea and I will be passing this card to my husband to give to my daughter to fill out and give to me.  I can’t wait to read what she has written on Mother’s Day!  This card will be a lovely keepsake too, to look back on in years to come.

mothers day cards 3All in all a lovely selection of Mother’s Day cards.  Why not check Made With Love out?

Personalised Greeting Cards – Review

The Dog’s Doodahs is an online greeting card retailer, providing personalised cards delivered to your door.  They have a large range of humourous cards, but also some cute, animal and child friendly cards.  I was offered the chance to order a selection to see what I thought.

cardsWhen looking round the website I saw a lot of alcohol related cards, some amusing wine jokes which appeal to me and my friends.

I ordered this one for my friend for Christmas which I knew would give us a laugh as neither of us know what Leftover Wine is!!  This is a large style card with a glossy finish.  You are able to personalise both at the top and the name at the bottom.  I was very pleased with this and we both had a giggle when she opened it!

I also chose a cute personalised card for my daughter whose birthday is imminent and again on this card I could personalise both the name and the age.  The card is a nice size and one I hope she’ll enjoy when she opens.

I also selected a couple of the smaller non personalised cards to see what they were like.  I chose a few humourous ones that will be suitable for friends birthdays and am happy with all of them.

What I particularly like with ordering from The Dog’s Doodahs is that these cards are different, you won’t see similar ones elsewhere, giving them a more unique feel, rather than a lot of the more traditional high street cards that you immediately recognise.  The ordering process was simple and delivery was quick.

I am more than happy with the cards and online service received and would happily go back and order more cards from them.  Why not take a look for yourself?
