Ravensburger My First Pets Puzzle 8+ Review

Ravensburger My First Pets Puzzle is aimed at ages 8+ and contains 200 pieces. It is a really cute design containing eleven different sections each with a different type of pet featured in it.  Being broken down into sections makes it easier to identify where each of the pieces go and having a 9yr and 6.5yr old I was sure they would be able to complete this between them.

With my 9yr old out, the 6yr old got started and without helping him, I encouraged him to find all of the edge pieces.  I knew he could do it if he tried and before long he started piecing bits together. He loved the achievement of joining up sections that he had made and had fun identifying which animal each piece came from.  It also gave us talking points about the various pets on the front of the box.

When the 9yr old got home, she couldn’t resist joining her brother and helping him find the inside pieces.  In fact just a few hours later they had completed it all by themselves!  I’ve always enjoyed doing puzzles and I’m pleased to be able to share this pastime with them.  I think it’s great for their brain and makes them think, identify and match pieces which are great skills for adapting into other things.

Overall we loved the puzzle.  The animals are all so cute on the front and having different sections gave each child a different pet to focus on so they weren’t arguing over who was putting which pieces in.  The 9yr old did get to put the last piece in though!

A really lovely puzzle from Ravensburger, with their usual high quality of pieces.  It was a pleasure watching my children complete this and gave them just about the right challenge to do without being too easy. My First Pets Puzzle is cute, fun and perfect for animal loving children.

Ravensburger 1000 piece Puzzle – Munich

The Munich jigsaw puzzle from Ravensburger consists of 1000 pieces and features lots of wonderful architecture from Munich’s Marienplatz.  The town hall makes a prominent appearance with it’s neo-gothic appearance dating back from the 19th century.

I’ve always loved completing puzzles, something I probably inherited from my mum as she does too, but with two young children it can sometimes be challenging to squeeze in the time to do an adult jigsaw.  With a family holiday planned a few weeks ago, I new this would be something we would enjoy doing in the evenings when the children had gone to bed.

I started the jigsaw one evening and it wasn’t long before my mum joined in and we managed to get the outline finished.  The next day we dipped in and out of puzzle, it certainly became addictive and everytime we walked past, couldn’t resist trying to find another piece.

The following evening we became gripped with the puzzle and sat up until 2.15am finishing it!  Everyone else was surprised when they came down in the morning to see that it was done, but we just couldn’t resist adding more pieces.

Jigsaw’s can be addictive and this Ravensburger Munich puzzle certainly captured our attention with the various architectural features on the buildings to look out for and the peaceful sunset in the sky above.

The Ravensburger puzzles click together so nicely making them a pleasure to do, so if you are looking for something to do in your leisure time then why not try one of these?

Disney Cinderella 100 piece Puzzle from Ravensburger

The Disney Cinderella puzzle from Ravensburger is a beautiful puzzle depicting the various outfits of Cinderella along with her fairy godmother and ugly sisters, aimed at children 6+.

cinderella puzzleMiss M’s eyes lit up when she saw the puzzle and couldn’t wait to give it a try.  Having turned 7yrs old at the start of the year I was keen to see how well she could do this puzzle herself.  She began and with a few prompts from me to search for the edges and corners first, I let her do the entire puzzle herself which gave her a great sense of achievement on completion.

cinderella 1The puzzle pieces are nicely cut and a good size for her age.  With different characters and outfits to look for, it helped make the puzzle a little easier to do.  She soon got into the swing of it and started finding the pieces she needed and getting excited when she recognised what area of the puzzle pieces came from.

cinderella 3The finished Cinderella puzzle looked beautiful and coincides perfectly with the film Cinderella that has just been released.  The puzzle has lots of detail but is perfectly suitable to the age group suggested.

Miss M really enjoyed sitting, completing the puzzle and with a little determination, did it all by herself!

Mother’s Day with Truprint #millionmumssmile

Mother’s Day is the perfect time to spend time with family and of course spoil your mum.  But what do you buy?  There’s always the traditional flowers and chocolates but I think it’s nice to find something a bit different and possibly personalised.  This is where Truprint could be the place you are looking for.  Nowadays they do so much more than produce photographic prints, in fact there is quite an array of personalised gifts available that would be perfect for Mother’s Day this year.

For my mum, I will probably buy her some flowers but I like to give her a present too.  It’s always hard to buy for her as she seems to have everything but then I spotted this personalised jigsaw which can be made from a photograph.  I know she enjoys doing a jigsaw, so I decided to get a puzzle made up using a family photograph taken earlier this year.  I think it is something that she will enjoy doing with the grandchildren and they will be fascinated that their images have been immortalised onto a jigsaw!

For myself I want something useful for Mother’s Day, a nice gift that doesn’t just sit there (I have enough clutter in my house!) so when I spotted this 13oz Photo Travel Mug I knew it’s something I’d like to receive as I need a new lidded mug for work and how lovely to be able to look at pictures of my children all day!  I think receiving something practical is so much more acceptable these days especially when it’s personalised.

For children I think it’s appropriate to give just a small gift to their mummies, and something they can help design themselves and thats when I spotted these 3D Animated Bookmarks.  With a vast choice of backgrounds to choose from and the ability to add two photos to each one that magically change when you tilt it, these are the perfect choice for children to give as gifts.  My two designed one each with their own photos in and I can’t wait to receive them on Mother’s Day to use in my books.

Another simple idea is a keyring where you can simply choose an image to go inside.  These are ideal to use as a small gift on their own, or to add to other gifts.

Why not take a look at the Truprint website yourself and see what you can find to give your mum this Mother’s Day?

Truprint also offer photo cards, so what a perfect opportunity to have one made up for your mum this Mother’s Day.  This year Truprint are running a Mum in a Million campaign where they want to make a million mums smile by giving away 1 million personalised Mother’s Day cards.

To claim one of these cards just go to Truprint and enter MUMINAMILLION at the checkout.

The Muppets Puzzle by Ravensburger – Review

The Muppets puzzle by Ravensburger is designed for children of the age 6+, perfect for Miss M to try as she was 6 in January.  The pieces are fairly large making this a good sized finished puzzle at 49×36 cm.  The puzzle contains 100 pieces making the biggest puzzle Miss M has attempted to date, but also allows her to be a little challenged and make her think a bit more.Muppets 1

The theme of the puzzle, The Muppets, coincides with the release of the new Muppets film and is an image of all the Muppets together.  The Muppets are something I grew up watching and always was a fan of Miss Piggy.  Miss M was quite unfamiliar with the characters but it was a great opportunity to teach her their names.  She found most of them quite funny as she pointed out their quirky features and bright colours.

Muppets 2

We tipped the puzzle out and I guided Miss M to separate the edge pieces from the middle ones and then we began to create the border of the puzzle.

Muppets 3

I thought she did really well, although I did give her a little assistance on the outside of the puzzle to get her going.

Muppets 4

I was really pleased to see Miss M getting totally engrossed in completing the inner part of the puzzle her self.  When she got a bit stuck, I prompted her by pointing out an obvious feature on the box to look out for which got us talking about The Muppets.  She kept herself motivated and eventually finished the whole puzzle which she was so happy about!

I think this is the perfect size of puzzle for a 6 year old as they can just about complete it with minimal assistance and a little guidance, which gives them the satisfaction of doing it themselves but also have a little bit of a challenge.  I like the way Ravensburger grade their puzzles by age and size of the puzzle pieces.  Miss M loved completing The Muppets puzzle and it has given her some knowledge of the characters.  I think this is a great activity for children to do, that can be done again and again.
