Ravensburger Despicable Me 3 3D puzzles

Ravensburger Despicable Me 3, 3D puzzles can’t fail to be a hit with minion fans.  Not only are they puzzles, they are covered in minions and also can be used as storage containers once built!

The Despicable Me 3 Storage Box 3D Puzzle comes with 216 pieces and along with a base, top frame, tray and yellow paper inserts.  With a 7yr old minion fan and a 9yr old who loves 3D puzzles I left the two of them to get on with this.  They had a production line on the go with Miss M finding the correctly numbered pieces and Mister B piecing them together.  What I like about Ravensburger 3D  puzzles are that each piece is numbered with a little arrow alongside to show you where to place to the following piece. Within just a short amount of time the puzzles started taking shape and the children were impressed with their structures.

Once each puzzle is complete they each have a base and top frame that turns them into sturdy storage units.  A great bonus of the storage box is a tray that slides across the box and can hold little items but can easily be lifted out.

The Despicable Me 3 3D Pen pot was equally a pleasure to make and came together easily.  Once constructed there is a thin sheet of yellow card to insert inside to finish the look as well as the plastic base and top frame.  Mister B was absolutely thrilled with his pen pot and I think it looks great too!

Overall we are really impressed with both of the Despicable Me 3 3D storage puzzles.  Not only are they fun to do, they are useful and look great.  We’ve found with 3D puzzles in the past they normally stay up for a while then we have to pack them away as they take up too much room but these are fully functional and look great in Mister B’s bedroom.

These would make brilliant gifts at any time of the year but with Christmas on it’s way I’d definitely think about wrapping some of these to go under the tree!

Ravensburger Cinderella Carriage 3D Puzzle

Ravensburger Cinderella Carriage 3D Puzzle is a really beautiful puzzle when finished and would take pride of place in any little girls bedroom on the shelf once complete.  With 72 pieces and aimed at 6-10 year old’s this puzzle is a delight to do and a pleasure to look at once finished in it’s 3D glory.

The puzzle comes with the really sturdy 3D pieces, some cardboard pieces to build the carriage and a guide in case you haven’t attempted a 3D puzzle before.

The puzzle pieces are cleverly numbered on the back and you need to find each piece in number order in order to assemble easily and enable the curves to form simply as you build.  Both my children age 6 and 9 are fascinated by 3D puzzles and eagerly worked together searching for the pieces and helped each other build the finished creation.

With a bit of teamwork it wasn’t long before the entire puzzle came together and a complete spherical ball shape had formed.  It looks fabulous and is really sturdy as the pieces are plastic and strong.  The whole structure stays together perfectly and looks lovely sitting upon the carriage.  The ball can be turned around with Cinderella on one side and the fairy godmother on the other.

The Ravensburger Cinderella Carriage 3D Puzzle is a beautiful 3D puzzle that the children loved building and one that looks lovely and can be kept as a decorative piece to admire on a shelf or broken up and done time and time again.  We love Ravensburger puzzles in general and the 3D ones give an extra dimension that brings them to life so if you have a Disney Cinderella fan in your house, this is well worth checking out as it’s sure to be loved by all!

Bunchems! 3D Creations Fun for Kids

Bunchems! from Spin Master are clever little colourful balls that stick together and can be built up to create 3D structures simply and easily.  Just as quick you have built one, you can also pull it apart and rebuild into something totally different.  My children have been eyeing this up over the last few months so I knew they’d be eager to try them out and have fun seeing if they were as good as they thought from the adverts!

We received a Mega Pack and Under the Sea glow in the dark pack of Bunchems! to try out.  Within these sets there are plenty of coloured pieces to start playing with a long with what I thought was a good selection and variety of accessories which can be stuck onto your creations to add personality and bring them alive.

My 6yr old who has been eager to try these for a while, got stuck straight in and was building things all by himself.  I was really impressed at how easy and quick they are to build and certainly kept both him and his 9yr old entertained all afternoon.  The circle pieces have tiny hooks on the end of the spikes which simply hook together as you push them close.  There are also small holes in one side which the accessories attach to.

Within just a few minutes my little boy had recreated this rather cute bird that he saw on the front of the box.  He was very proud of it and I was amazed he made it so quickly and independently.

Before long I was being shown lots of wonderful creations – they all look fabulous!

I think Bunchems! are great and perfect for a range of ages although I’d say my 6yr old enjoyed them the most.  They are non messy and great to do on a table or tray and can just be stored in a box when play has finished (we found a lidded plastic box perfect).  For a different way to craft, create and have fun, then Bunchems! are a great toy to try out.

IDO3D Vertical Design Studio – Review

IDO3D Vertical Design Studio is a unique way to build 3D creations using specially filled gel pens and a UV light to dry your designs as you work.  There are several sets available and we received the Vertical drawing set to try out which my children were quite pleased with as they have seen it advertised on TV and were quite fascinated by it.

ido3dThe set consists of 4 3D drawing pens in various colours, 1 light attachment, a few plastic accessories and an instruction sheet.

ido3d-2The kit is aimed at children aged 6+, so my 8yr old had go by tracing one of the templates from the instructional sheet.  There is a clear sheet of plastic that you lay on top of this for the gel to sit on until dry.  At first my daughter tried to use the pen with the light switched on but we found that the gel was drying instantly and she ended up with a row of little hard lumps of gel rather than clean lines, so we found it easier to draw the design with the pen and then go over it with the light afterwards to set it.ido3d-3Once the gel has set, you can easily lift it from the plastic sheet and you can join creations together using the gel like you would glue then using the light to set it.  As you can see Miss M really had a good go at trying lots of designs. ido3d-4The pens are quite hard to press and you do need to give your fingers a rest after a while.  Mister B who is 5 (6 in 2 weeks time) tried it out but found it too hard and gave up.  I did help him make a smiley face though which he was rather pleased with.   ido3d-5Miss M found it a bit little fiddly to assemble things as everything was a bit tacky along with our fingers so I did help her with this.  We also found it tricky to get any intricate detail like it shows on the box but I do think we had a good go and ended up with a pair of funky glasses and a little trinket basket. ido3d-6

Based on how my children found this kit, I would definitely say it’s best suited to the slightly older ages rather than than as low as 6, as suggested on the box.  This craft kit is something different and a great project for them to try out.  Why not check out IDO3D, it could make a great Christmas present for someone!

Ravensburger Puzzles from eTwist

eTwist is an online retailer that sells something for everyone, from toys to watches, home goods and appliances and much more.  It isn’t a website I had come across before but after taking a look around, I noticed that there were a lot of recognisable, branded products at very competitive prices, definitely worth a look at before making a purchase.

We were given the chance to try out some Ravensburger puzzles on their website to keep the kids occupied over the holidays.  Being familiar with the Ravensburger brand, I could see the prices were really good for these items, and we chose something the kids have longed for, a 3D puzzle.  I found one of Big Ben with the Minions on, something I knew that would have the utmost appeal and I can safely say it didn’t disappoint!

puzzleBoth children were super excited upon seeing the Ravensburger 3D Minions Big Ben, and standing at 41cm tall this is a fantastic looking puzzle that doubles up as model on a shelf.  With 216 pieces this was a great puzzle for 8yr old Miss M and just the challenge she needed.  The pieces for this are unlike a traditional puzzle, and are numbered on the back to help you construct the pieces in the correct order.  We all helped looked for the right numbered pieces but Miss M was chief builder.

puzzle 1We soon saw progress with the puzzle as it rose from the ground, into the shape of Big Ben, and the minion aspect kept 5yr old Mister B amused.  He made his mission to put the finishing yellow piece of the tower on the top!

puzzle 2This puzzle is of excellent quality with plastic pieces, many of which are hinged for the corners and angles. These work really well to create the added dimension to the puzzle and in fact a puzzle that has been exceptionally well received by not only my own family but by others that have seen it!

puzzle 3Our second puzzle to complete was this Crazy Cats at the Perfume Shop which I just adored.  It is a 500 piece puzzle ideal for families to complete together.  We love cats and 5yr old Mister B was my chief corner and edge finder!puzzle 5

We have all had great fun completing this puzzle right down from the children up to the grandparents putting in a few pieces when they pop round.  We spent a few days doing this but loved looking for pieces for each of the cats and the children were eager to be the ones putting in the last few pieces.

puzzle 4Puzzles are much loved in this house and are something everyone can join in with.  They are a great activity for rainy days and school holidays.  Why not check out what eTwist has to offer to keep the kids occupied over the next couple of weeks, puzzles are just one of the things on their site as well as much, much more!

Ozeri 3D Pedometer – Review

Ozeri produce a wide range of household products from kitchenware to fitness gadgets so when I was sent a Ozeri Pedometer to try I knew it’d fit in perfectly with the healthy lifestyle that I’m currently trying to attain.

Ozeri PedometerThe Ozeri pedometer records steps, distance, calories and time and works using your own stride, something you have to programme in at the start along with current date/time/your weight etc.  This helps it to give accurate feedback on your progress throughout your day.

Having only used basic pedometer’s in the past, I could immediately see the benefits of the Ozeri.  One of the biggest bonuses for me was the 3D Tri-Axis motion sensor, meaning that no matter where you have the pedometer or what way up it is, it still manages to accurately record your steps.  It makes it so easy to slip into your pocket and go about day to day life.  Also I love the way that it waits until you have done 13 steps before adding them on, unlike the basic ones that increased steps everytime you jiggle about in your chair.

A feature I like is that it resets itself back to zero at midnight so you can get up the next morning knowing that you are starting a new day, although the great thing is your previous days are stored to give you a 7 day total.

I was a bit shocked the first few days I tried the Ozeri pedometer, in that I was only achieving just over 6000 steps, although to be fair I wasn’t doing any particular walking or exercise on those days.  It has made me more conscious to make an effort to try and achieve over 10,000 steps each day.  I still find this a little hard on the days I work, but it gives me an excuse to get up and take a walk around the office!

Ozeri pedometerThe Ozeri pedometer comes in a nice slim design with easy to press buttons, and being bright yellow means it’s easy to find when you put it down.  Once set up, you can just use it to track your steps each day and a simple press of a button shows you your calories and distance.  Having the time and date on the front was an added bonus and a feature I found useful.

The pedometer comes with an optional attachment to allow you to wear around your neck and also a very handy little screwdriver to open the battery compartment.  There is also a backlight for night viewing which can be useful.

Overall I think the Ozeri is an excellent pedometer, perfect for anyone wanted to keep track of their steps throughout the day.  It works well, gives accurate results, is a compact design and is packed with features allowing you to track your daily movements.

Crayola Washable 3D Outdoor Chalks Review

During the summer we were asked to review Crayola Washable 3D Outdoor Chalks for izziwizzikids.

The 3D Outdoor Chalk allows you to create eye-popping 3D effects with the dual coloured 3D outdoor chalk and 3D glasses. They are simple to use, give you amazing results and the special chalk combines the right colours to make the magic happen! To get your creative juices flowing, there’s a “How To” leaflet included which shows you how to start with simple shapes, eventually building up to using the 3D effects.

When I first showed these to Miss M and told her she could draw in the garden her eyes lit up and she couldn’t wait to get started. At first we followed the simple instructions to create a basic drawing which allowed us to sample the 3D effects successfully.  We then had to wear the 3D glasses to view the effect which proved a great hit with Miss M.  I was impressed with the 3D results as the drawing really did seem to lift from the ground with the different colours appearing at different levels.

Miss M loved this activity and the chalks were continued to be used day after day to turn the entire patio area of the garden into a myriad of colour.  This was a thoroughly fun activity that could be done again and again. We loved it and would definitely recommend it for children as a fun summer outdoor activity that encourages creativity, has a fun novelty factor with the 3D effect and keeps them occupied for a good length of time.
