Today is National Puzzle Day, a fantastic time for families to sit down and enjoy a large jigsaw together or children trying to do a puzzle of their favourite characters by themselves.
I’ve always been a fan of jigsaws and have my encouraged my children to do so too. Jumbo Games have a wide variety of puzzles available for all ages and tastes so there really is something to suit everyone.
The Frozen wall puzzle is not only a jigsaw, but once complete it comes with glue to which you spread on top to join all the pieces together. You can then hang the puzzle on your bedroom wall. The other special thing about this puzzle is the size. It may only contain 35 pieces but the completed puzzle is an awesome 100x70cm!!

It’s been a hectic start to the year to say the least, with trying to sell a house and job worries making it most stressful, but I musn’t forget the amazing event that really started off the year and that was Miss M’s 8th birthday on the 1st January!
What an amazing eight years it has been and she has done me very proud with both her efforts at school and at home. She has grown into a lovely, polite girl who loves to help others and is friendly to everyone.
She wanted a birthday party at home, which was fine by me so we decided on biscuit decorating as the main activity. Miss M eagerly helped me the day before to mix the ingredients and cut out enough biscuits for all her friends to decorate the next day. I also bought some flat cardboard food trays which they decorated the outside of with coloured pens as the first activity of the party.
They then iced and decorated the biscuits with great enthusiasm, but I was particularly impressed with the results and they all ended up with a really lovely tray of biscuits to take home at the end of the party. Mister B did a great job of his biscuits too!
We then moved onto some other party games which Miss M had chosen and all the girls loved. I had frozen some erasers in silicon cake cases so they were like blocks of ice and each girl had one to unfreeze using their hands and mouths – they absolutely loved it, I’d thoroughly recommend it. I just placed some trays on the floor for them to let the water drip onto and put some towels around for them to dry their hands on.
Next up was another favourite in which three partygoers, including the birthday girl became mummified in toilet paper!! They worked in three teams and it was great fun with minimal, easy mess to clean up afterwards.
Miss M had a great birthday and it was a lovely start to the year. We have lots of change coming up this year, particularly with our new house which we can’t wait to share with you. There’s been a number of complications which we are working on but I forsee a year full of DIY ahead as well as a great family home where we hope to share lots of baking and gardening projects throughout the year as well as other fun times.
Wishing you all a fantastic 2016!

Barbie is most girls dream doll and the idea of styling her hair and make up is the ultimate fun activity! This Barbie Deluxe Styling Head is the ultimate toy for young girls to practice hair and make up styles, everything from curls to plaits, nails to eye make up.
This deluxe version exceeded my expectations in size, the styling head is bigger than I thought, therefore making it easier to use. Barbie’s arms fold out, which is a great added feature and allows you to decorate Barbie’s nails with the various stickers and fake nails included. Barbie wear’s a very sparkly pink dress and the whole styling head looks well made and sturdy.
The set contains numerous accessories such as a hair brush, clips, hair ties, clip in extensions, curling tong, scissors, nail stickers, fake nails, earrings etc.
My daughter is keen to learn how to plait hair and this was her ideal opportunity. She now wants me to teach her how to do fish plaits. She’s also had fun sticking nails on Barbie along with the nail stickers. There is quite a lot to keep a child occupied and if they are into hairstyling and beauty, then this is just the thing for them. The hair does need brushing a few times when first opened as it has a kind of spray in it to keep it all in place, but once that’s brushed out the hair is soft and manageable.
If you fancy having a go yourself (I did find it tempting to do a few fancy designs to show my daughter), or winning one of these deluxe models for your child to play with, then check out my giveaway below:
