ChillFactor Drinks Bottle – Review

ChillFactor Drinking Bottle is a new style drinking bottle that instantly chills a drink and keeps it cold for up to two hours.  Available in pink or blue, we tried the pink version out.chill bottle 4The bottle is quite large and holds upto 600ml of liquid.  It is not recommended for carbonated drinks but is perfect for water or squash, ideal for summertime!

The ChillFactor Drink Bottle separates into several parts, an inner core which is quite thin and is the bit you need to put into the freezer.  Being quite slimline it easily fits into a drawer in my freezer between other items.  For best results you should keep it upright and freeze for 4-6 hours.

There are also two ways of drinking through the bottle which was a bit of an attraction for Miss M.  By lifting the lid on one side you could simply hold the bottle up and sip out of it.  Alternatively you could pop up the other side and drink out of the straw.

chill bottleOnce the inner part is chilled you need to put it back in the main body of the bottle then fill with your chosen drink.  This is where the fun part starts – the outside of the bottle changes colour as the liquid cools down inside.  So in our case the bottle changed from pink to purple!

chill bottle 2What we love about this bottle is that the room temperature drink that we add to the bottle is instantly chilled and Miss M does like ice cold drinks.  Also the funky changing coloured bottle appealed to Miss M and she loves drinking out of it.  It has been used many times already and I see this as a great bottle to take out on long car journeys and days out over the summer!

chill bottle 3We’ve enjoyed using the ChillFactor Drink Bottle and think it’ll get lots of use.  Why not try it out today for your summer adventures?

House of Fraser Children’s Clothes – Review

House of Fraser sell a wide range of branded children’s clothes online, more than I realised as my local store is quite limited in children’s clothes.  Looking online really opened my eyes to the various ranges available and the choice which was generous for both boys and girls.

Having both a boy and a girl, I picked several pieces to try out with each of them.

mangoMiss M went for this MANGO hoodie and jogging trousers.  Sold separately but we opted to get both, they actually proved a major hit with her wearing them all weekend and then made the perfect comfort outfit on the ferry to France with her grandparents this half term.  She found them ultra comfy, soft and easy to wear.

My opinion was that they were soft, well made and lightweight, perfect as a summerwear tracksuit.  The colour was almost nude, a peachy pink colour that complimented Miss M’s skintone and matches other pieces easily.

mango 1It had L.A. West Coast, Surfing Club, Venice West Beach logo on it both on the hoodie and the trousers.  They were ultra comfy as Miss has worn them non stop.  They are a size 9-10 but we always find we need to go up a size or two for Miss M even though we don’t  consider her to be large for her size but she is tall and fits a bigger size.

mango 2I love the label inside the hoodie, to add your name and details to avoid losing it at school or a at a club etc.  Overall we love this tracksuit and with it’s soft, easy to wear texture makes it an everyday staple.

For Mister B, we chose these Minene pyjamas.  They come beautifully packaged in a small chiffon style bag.   I love both the colour and design on these pyjamas, a soft grey with star design on the trousers and airplane on the top.  They are lovely and soft, perfect for a comfy nights sleep.  I really rate the Minene pyjamas for the quality and designs and would definitely purchase them again.  Unfortunately Mister B went a bit camera shy when modelling these for me so I couldn’t get any pics of him in them but they are lovely to wear and having the cuffed bottoms means they don’t hang on the floor and give a better fit.

I think the brands available at House of Fraser are great and always deliver on style and quality, therefore I’d recommend anyone to check them out.  There is a huge offering online and often bargains to be had a sale time!

Nail HQ Nail Treatments – Review

Nail HQ have launched a new generation of nail treatment products containing the cutting edge ingredients that really fullfil what they set out to do.

P1010351I received the Cuticle Oil, Growth and Strengthener to try out and see if they made a difference to my nails.  I do like to grow my nails long, but unfortunately with two young children to look after and endless cleaning up around the house after them, they are constantly breaking and I have little time to spend pampering them.

I love the bottles these Nail HQ products come in, with a sleek, stylish design and lightly coloured product inside, these look great on the shelf in the bathroom!

P1010352The Growth and the Strengthener products are so easy to use.  They require just one coat onto bare nails which leaves your nails with a slight sheen.  You can also add nail polish on top should you wish which is great to add a pop of colour.

What I love is that this product dries so quickly, within a minute or two, your nails are completely touch dry which means these are so simple to apply and then you can get on with whatever you want to do without having to hold your nails out to dry!

The Growth product contains Pentavitin “Moisture Magnet” and a unique nail strengthening complex including Biotin which helps replenish the nails and avoid splits and breakages.

The Strengthener contains keratin & Multi-fruit complex of alpha hydroxy acids to make soft nails stronger and reduce any weaknesses.

The Cuticle Oil has Jojoba Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil & Beta-Carotene as well as Vitamins E, A, and D3 to really hydrate your cuticles and keep them looking well maintained.  I really suffer from dry cuticles so this has been great to brush on everyday.  Again simple to do with it’s non greasy formula.

P1010444So did they work?

Well judging by the picture above, my nails look the best they have in a long while.  I love that they are all of uniform length, usually one or two break at the top of the pink bit and I have multiple lengths.  They definitely feel stronger, firmer and less likely to break.

I added a bit of colour and I think they look amazing!

P1010556I’m loving the Nail HQ nail treatment products and will continue to use them.  My nails appear healthier, stronger and are definitely more resistant to breaks and damage.  These products seem to work and the give results I need for a good length natural nail that withstands family life, housework and day to day life!

Tommy Tucker – Top Snacks for Saturday Night!

Tommy Tucker is a name I recently became familiar with when I reviewed their gourmet range of popcorn.  We’ve now been sent their standard range along with some Krax snacks which I can only say have been a hit with us too!

tommy tucker 1First up is the Krax, bbq flavoured potato snacks.  I’m not a huge fan of bbq flavour but gave these a try and have to say I couldn’t stop munching!  The snacks were lightly flavoured with a soft crunch, really moreish in fact.  This pack didn’t last long once the children found them and between the three of us we soon polished them off.  If you want a tasty, easy to eat snack, this is it!

tommy tucker 3Then it was time to try out the popcorn, a great Saturday night snack.  My two children couldn’t wait to tuck in and try out the different flavours.  With flavours such as Sweet, Salt, Sweet & Salt and Toffee in retro style packaging we were eager to get tasting.

tommy tucker 2The Tommy Tucker popcorn has the perfect bite and we all sat crunching our way through Saturday night whilst watching tv.  Our favourite by far is the Toffee, it’s buttery, crunchy richness just melts in the mouth.  We are also fans of the Sweet for something a bit lighter and the Sweet & Salt is a bit different.  We weren’t too keen on the Salt flavoured popcorn though, not really to our tastebuds.

tommy tucker 4Tommy Tucker popcorn and Krax has once again been a hit with us!  We love the taste, texture and most of the flavours.  With such a great choice of flavours, there’s sure to be something for everyone.  Make sure you get some to try, the perfect accompaniment to Saturday night tv!

Not only is Tommy Tucker available in cinemas across the country, keep your eye out as it will soon be available to buy in supermarkets – yay, I’ll be sure to buy some as my family love it!

Barbie Rainbow Hair – Review

Barbie Rainbow Hair is the latest Barbie to be released from Mattel.  This fashion forward Barbie looks stylish in her outfit and has long flowing blonde hair, waiting to be styled.

Rainbow Hair Barbie comes in a dress and glamourous pair of black heels.  There are a also a selection of hair accessories, a blue brush, 3 hair clips, 2 hair bands and a colouring tool.

barbie 2

The colouring tool is like a mini set of hair straighteners which you insert the coloured palette into.  You then press the tool around some hair and pull down the hair to impregnate some of the colour onto the hair.

barbie 3

Miss M really enjoyed decorating Barbie’s hair, although to be honest I didn’t think the colouring tool was that great.  You had to press quite hard and the colour is quite patchy.  Despite my thoughts, Miss M was happy and also enjoyed the process of giving Barbie a hairwash after to remove the colour and start again.  (We turned our bathroom sink into a little salon while Miss M happily sat lathering up Barbie’s head with shampoo).

barbie 4

What really appealed to Miss M about this Barbie, above others, is her long straight hair.  It’s really smooth and shiny and with it being so long it was easy to plait and style, something Miss M thoroughly enjoyed doing.  She has spent all weekend, brushing and caring for Barbie’s hair giving her lots of funky new styles.

barbie 5

Miss M is 7 and has enjoyed the Barbie Rainbow Hair, and although I don’t overly rate the colouring aspect of this Barbie, I do love her long flowing hair which has provided lots of hair styling fun!

Petits Filous #MagicSquaresPlaydates

Petits Filous Magic Squares are a brand new range with each pot containing two different flavours divided into squares so that you can try a bit of each flavour or mix up and eat both flavours at once.

petits filousThe yoghurt is soft and creamy, coming in two flavour combinations, Strawberry & Vanilla, and Raspberry & Vanilla and is packed full of vitamin D to help build strong bones.

So what did my children think:

4yr old Mister B
“Can I have another one when I finish this one please mummy?”

7yr old Miss M
“Scrummy yummy in my tummy”

The above replies I got to my question about their verdicts, translates to me in both cases, a resounding success.  They loved the flavours, they were easy to eat, they enjoyed them and I’ll buy them again!

So with Petits Filous mixing up the magic in their new Magic Squares range, what do we do at home to mix up the magic during play.

We like to make sure we have lots of different activities planned during the day so that we don’t get bored.  With Mister B at home with me all day on a Friday we really try and mix up the magic by changing activity every hour from a bit of craft making, to playing with toy cars, to board game playing, to a bit of gardening if the weather is dry and Mister B’s favourite – some baking in the kitchen.

Last week’s cooking activity was biscuits, not just any old biscuits but minion biscuits!  Well the excitement on Mister B’s face said it all when he knew what we were doing and he couldn’t wait to get started!

minionsHe was really keen to get stuck in and do all the baking himself, from mixing, rolling, cutting out, icing, and decorating, until he produced these….

minions 2Aw, he was so pleased with his biscuits and couldn’t wait to show his big sister when she finished school!  By throwing in different activities we keep the play magic mixed up and the children entertained!

Tomy John Deere Dump Truck – Review

The John Deere Dump Truck from Tomy is a fabulously sturdy, multi purpose toy that can be used indoors and out for endless hours of fun.

tomy dump truckBeing a large size and boldy coloured meant it caught 4yr old Mister B’s eyes immediately!  He couldn’t wait to star playing.  Aimed at ages 3-8yrs, Mister B is the perfect age for this toy.

tomy dump truck 2It’s strong and sturdy with no small parts.  This toy is built to last and withstand some knocking and bashing!  The back of the dumper truck lifts up completely in order to tip out it’s goods.  The giant chunky wheels also go round smoothly so that it can easily be pushed across the carpet, grass, sand, wherever you decide to take this vehicle on it’s journey.   Little ones will love using their imaginations with this truck and turn it into a useful carry along vehicle for whatever objects they wish.

tomy dump truck 3I have to say it was hard to get a photo of Mister B playing with this as he constantly zooms around with it making all my pictures go blurry!  He absolutely loves it and has played with it in many different ways, using the back to transport different other toys across the room.  He’s really loves tipping the contents out when he reaches his destination  with the built in handle to make tipping simple!

tomy dump truck 4Where I think this toy will really shine is on the beach.  We can’t wait to take it with us on holiday in July to Cornwall and get the dump truck really working hard with loads full of sand and stones on the beach.  With it’s solid, durable plastic build, this is the ideal beach toy to provide hours of fun.

Kids Don’t Come With A Manual – Book Review & Giveaway

Kids Don’t Come With A Manual is a newly released parenting guide by Carole & Nadim Saad, the parents of three children, from who they’ve gained experience and put their knowledge into a self help manual for parents to use as and when they need it.

kidsThe book is broken down into chapters, then each chapter into tools, a smaller section you can simply flick to should you need guidance in that area.  This makes the book easy to digest as you simply pick out the bits relevant to you.

Kids Don’t Come With A Manual really does cover every aspect of dealing with a child from listening to a child, how to talk to a child, dealing with bad behaviour, connecting with your child etc.  One chapter that really stood out for me as I feel it’s relevant to my family is “How to prevent power struggles and other issues”, in particular Tool No 6: Diffusing Whining and Arguing.

This is something that I do have issues around with my eldest and this book not only suggests how to diffuse whining, but then suggests techniques and ideas to follow if they are not working, it almost encourages you to keep at it in certain ways to ensure you don’t back down, stand your ground but keep calm at the same time.  I’ve definitely picked up some ideas to try out and I’m sure it’ll only be in the next day or so I get a chance to test them out.

I do think this book is well written and presented, the layout has been thought out and it’s nice to have easy to go to pages rather than having to read large chapters at a time.  For me this makes it a book I’m more likely to go to, as and when I need to.  The book is jam packed with information, there really is something for every situation and parenting dilemma.

I have one copy of Kids Don’t Come With A Manual up for grabs for one reader, just fill in the gleam form below:

Ozeri WeightMaster Digital Scales

Being someone that always needs to keep their weight in check, a set of bathroom scales is important to me.  The Ozeri WeightMaster come in black or white options and I opted to try out the white ones to see how they performed.

ozeriThe scales look quite sleek and modern with a glass panel inset in the centre.  The white is actually lightly ribbed, which you can’t really tell from the picture, but this gives it a non slip texture and is also coated in Microban for antibacterial protection.  The scales will weigh upto a maximum of 200kg or 440lbs.  You can switch the measurements from lbs to kg quite simply using the unit button underneath the scales.  This is my only slight gripe with the scales in that I am used to looking at stones and lbs, and being all in lbs was quite confusing for me to know what I weighed but you soon get used to it.

ozeri 2Now comes the rather exciting bits about these scales.  You can program in upto 8 peoples details, enough for your whole family so that each time you stand on the scales, they instantly recognise you!  Once you have added your height to a profile number, the scales can then caculate your BMI when you stand on them.  As well as that, they are very clever in that they change colour each time you weigh yourself to show whether you’ve gone up or down from the previous time you weighed.  So where you see the blue screen in the picture above, this will turn red if your weight has increased, or turn green if your weight has increased.

I think this is an added motivational tool to help you think about what you are eating.  I certainly wouldn’t want the scales turning red each time I stepped on them!  It also makes it easy to see and you don’t have to remember exactly what you were the last time, an added benefit.

The Ozeri WeightMaster scales really are as simple as that!  Easy to use, accurate weighing, auto recognition of individuals and colour alert technology – what more could you want?  They also seem very sturdy and well made, so perfect for the family bathroom!
