Disney Frozen Readybed from Worlds Apart – Review

The Disney Frozen Junior Readybed from World’s Apart has to be every little Frozen fan’s dream bed.  It certainly was Miss M’s when she saw it, in fact she wanted to sleep in it every night as opposed to her own bed!

disney frozen readybed 2The readybed is a fantastic idea, a sleeping bag, matress and pillow all rolled into one, perfect for nights away, sleepovers with friends, camping etc.  I love the way that it all folds up into it’s own bag, complete with carry handle and simple enough for my daugher Miss M to carry around.

disney frozen readybed 4The design on the the top is Disney Frozen and depicts the main characters, Princess Elsa, Anna and Olaf the Snowman.  With lilac and turquoise colourings for the base and inside, it is pretty and perfectly compliments the picture on top.

A simple plastic foot pump and tube is included to pump the bed up although this wasn’t great, we had a similar, slightly larger one at home that pumped the bed up in double the time!  But regardless it does only take 5 minutes to turn this bed into comfy matress ready to sleep on.

disney frozen readybedMiss M didn’t hesitate to get inside the second we had finished pumping the readybed up, in fact she didn’t want to get out!  She’s slept in it for the last couple of nights and has no complaints at all so I’m guessing it’s suitably comfortable.

It is suitable for ages 3+ and is 150cm long and with Miss M being a tall 6yr old she fitted very comfortably inside.

The Disney Frozen Junior Readybed has been a huge hit with my daughter and I can forsee lots of use out of it therefore I would definitely recommend it, just a shame the pump wasn’t a little better.

Horrid Henry’s Tricky Tricks – Book Review

Horrid Henry’s Tricky Tricks is a collection of ten Horrid Henry stories presented in a hard back book, with full colour illustrations on each page – perfect for any Horrid Henry fan.

Horrid HenryContaining the stories:

Horrid Henry Robs the Bank
Fluffy Struts Her Stuff
Horrid Henry Wakes the DeadMoody Margaret’s Sleepover
Horrid Henry’s Autobiography
Horrid Henry and the Nudie Foodie
Horrid Henry and the Mad Professor
Horrid Henry’s Horrid Weekend
Horrid Henry and the Abominable Snowman
Horrid Henry’s Grump Card

Miss M who is almost 7, loves Horrid Henry and I often find her reading Horrid Henry books at bedtime.  She couldn’t wait to get stuck into to this collection of stories and started with Horrid Henry Robs the Bank.  The story follows him playing the board game, Gotcha, with Perfect Peter and Moody Margaret who has won a number of times previously.  This time Horrid Henry is determined that he will be the winner and will go to any length to make sure that he does win.  His first idea was to be the banker, but Moody Margaret takes on that role so he has to resort to an alternative method of cheating… You’ll have to read it for yourself to find out what he did.

This a great set of stories for Horrid Henry fans, and would make a great gift.  There is plenty to read and with the colour illustrations on each page, it helps maintain interest and engagement with the story for children who are fairly new to reading independently.

H&A Kid’s Toiletries Stocking Filler Ideas – Review

H&A are known for their vast array of kids character toiletries and Christmas time is no exception, with their vast array of children’s gift sets available in a number of different ranges.

We received a selection for Miss M and Mister B to enjoy this Christmas time.

H&AFor boys I love the Thomas set with sponge, fizzers, crayons and stencils.  My two love drawing on the bath so the Thomas stencils should be lots of fun to use and keep them entertained.

Mister B loves pirates, so Jake and the Neverland bath treats will always be a hit with him.  The Tub Tints telescope is a fun idea, coloured bath salts that change the colour of the water and once the telecscope shaped bottle is empty, rinse it out for pirate fun in the bath with your own pretend telescope!  There’s also fun to be had with the walk the plank set which includes a suction plank for the side of the bath that you can walk your fingers or any little bath characters you have down until they land in the water.

For girls the Juicy Lucy range is really pretty and perfectly aimed at the almost 7 year old Miss M.  The cupcake bath fizzers are sure to be a massive hit with Miss M who will adore using one of these in her bath.  The fairy wash bag contains lots of goodies such as bath puff, hair bobbles, bubble bath, shimmer lotion and bath confetti – plenty of exciting things for a young girl.  The final set with fizzers and a magic flannel is a perfect extra, all children love to watch their flannel grow in the bath, and something that can be used again and again.

I love all these ranges from H&A, the perfect bathtime gifts for children.  There are plenty of other character giftsets available such as Frozen, Me to You, Disney Princess and Doc McStuffins, so something to suit everyone.  What gift range will you buy for your child this year?

All reviews are my own and my family’s opinions and we received the bath gift sets in order to write the review.

Stocking Filler ideas – Review

Stocking Fillers is a great website full of all those small items, such as games, toys and fun things that are perfect for filling stockings this Christmas.  With a wide range to choose from, the site is easy to navigate as it’s broken down into different price points as well as boys, girls, adults etc.  There also is something for everyone making it the one stop shop for stocking fillers.

stocking fillersI chose a selection of items for my children that I don’t think will disappoint.  The quality on all the items seems good value for the price and it was easy being able to order a box full of goodies from one place.

There were plenty of branded items to choose from such as Corgi diecast cars and Crazy Soap which is always a hit in the bath!  I also picked up some coloured Bath Tint tablets to change the colour of the bath which sound like fun.

My daughter enjoys a game of noughts and crosses on paper and I spotted a little wooden set using hearts and flowers which looked quite sweet, games never disappoint my children so I’m sure we’ll have lots of fun for such a simple item.

For Mister B who’s 4, I think the dinosaur stick will be fun, by turning it over it makes a dinosaur “roar”.  The Secret Message Pen will be a hit for Miss M as she loves writing little notes and the fact that we can’t see them will turn it into a fun game for her.

I think the Stocking Fillers website is a great place to pick up all those last minute little bits and pieces that fill us with joy each Christmas morning.  Why not take a look yourself?

turtlesIt came with a Christmas bauble to hang on the tree with a Half Shell Hero inside!  These are really cute little turtle figures perfect for little ones with no small parts.

Personalised Greeting Cards – Review

The Dog’s Doodahs is an online greeting card retailer, providing personalised cards delivered to your door.  They have a large range of humourous cards, but also some cute, animal and child friendly cards.  I was offered the chance to order a selection to see what I thought.

cardsWhen looking round the website I saw a lot of alcohol related cards, some amusing wine jokes which appeal to me and my friends.

WP_010236

I ordered this one for my friend for Christmas which I knew would give us a laugh as neither of us know what Leftover Wine is!!  This is a large style card with a glossy finish.  You are able to personalise both at the top and the name at the bottom.  I was very pleased with this and we both had a giggle when she opened it!

WP_010249

I also chose a cute personalised card for my daughter whose birthday is imminent and again on this card I could personalise both the name and the age.  The card is a nice size and one I hope she’ll enjoy when she opens.

I also selected a couple of the smaller non personalised cards to see what they were like.  I chose a few humourous ones that will be suitable for friends birthdays and am happy with all of them.

What I particularly like with ordering from The Dog’s Doodahs is that these cards are different, you won’t see similar ones elsewhere, giving them a more unique feel, rather than a lot of the more traditional high street cards that you immediately recognise.  The ordering process was simple and delivery was quick.

I am more than happy with the cards and online service received and would happily go back and order more cards from them.  Why not take a look for yourself?

Dentyl Active Mouthwash – Review

Dentyl Active mouthwash has been a firm favourite of mine for many years as part of my oral hygiene.  With it’s two phase formula it really leaves your mouth feeling fresh and super clean.

dentylAvailable in seven brightly coloured variants, I was sent the Plaque Fighter in Fresh Clove and Smooth Mint to try out.  I’m a huge fan of the Fresh Clove flavour, not to strong but leaves my mouth feeling really clean.  The Smooth Mint flavour is pleasant and does the same great job, although I think the flavour comes down to personal preference, my husband is a fan of the more minty varieties and leaves me to enjoy the Fresh Clove.

I love the two coloured phases, essential oils at the top and CPC (an antibacterial agent) at the bottom which need to be shaken together before using.  Then when you spit the mouthwash into the sink, along goes all the bits of debris and food too, allowing you to see the results of the mouthwash.  I find this a great incentive as it really feels like it’s working and gives even better results if used after flossing!

Dentyl Active is alcohol free which stops the mouth from drying out and along with the essential oils, keeps your mouth hydrated.  Being alcohol free also means this mouthwash is suitable for children over the age of 6.

I love this mouthwash and highly recommend it.  Although I don’t have time to use it every day Dentyl Active will continue to be part of my regular oral routine several times a week to keep my teeth and mouth both fresh and clean.

All reviews are my own and my family’s opinions and we received the mouthwash in order to write the review.

Alphablocks Reading Programme – Review

The Alphablocks Reading Programme consists of 15 magazines along with lots of extras such as flash cards, gold stars, Alphablock phonics tiles, stickers, games and more.  It is aimed at young children aged around 4yrs old who are just beginning their journey into the world of phonics and learning to read.

alphablocks complete_setThe Alphablocks Reading Programme comes in 3 parts, each delivered to your door in in sets containing 5 magazines along with lots of extras.  For a price of £39.99 plus p+p, I think this is very reasonable having seen what is included.

When we opened the first set, Mister B’s eye’s lit up at the array of goodies inside.  He couldn’t wait to start looking at the magazines and doing the activities.  He loves the Alphablocks from the television series and several DVD’s that we have so was immediately familiar with what he saw and due to the recent phonics lessons he’s been having at school, he was eager to pick out letters and sounds he knew and tell me them.

alphablocksMister B has just turned 4 but still at pre school until next September.  Being one of the oldest in his class and quite able, he joins the foundation class for phonics lessons each morning, so the Alphablocks Reading Programme is a great way for me to build upon what he has learnt and encourage him to learn to read.

The magazines are packed full of fun phonics activities that completely captured Mister B’s attention, he was eager to work through them and found it fun.  I was so thrilled when he blended some letters to create his first word.  I then found some of the letter tiles really useful to make various three letter words that he could sound out and say.

alphablocks 2The activities in the magazines are really varied to help maintain interest, from tracing letters, using stickers, colouring, to fun games and things to cut out.  I really think they are perfect for us and are great to sit and do on the days we are at home together.  We only do a few pages at a time to give Mister B time for all his new knowledge to sink in, but as long as he is enjoying it then I happy to sit and encourage him at home.

Alphablocks have really thought about this reading programme and it really seems to hit the mark with little ones.  My children have always loved magazines so to incorporate the learning into a magazine style format has really worked. I do think the extras help as well, the learning tiles are great, and Mister B always has to use the Alphablocks pencil in his magazines!

All reviews are my own and my family’s opinions and we received the reading programme in order to write the review.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar Gifts – Review

Wild & Wolf are both a designer and manufacturer of gift products, homeware and accessories for both children and adults that can be found in small independent gift shops as well as large department stores.  I’ve looked at their website and they have lots of lovely gifts perfect for Christmas, well worth checking out as there really is something for everyone.  We were sent us some of their The Very Hungry Caterpillar range of products to try out with the children.

hungry caterpillarThe Very Hungry Caterpillar is a popular children’s story that we all know and love both from our childhood as well as my own children discovering the story now, and having as much fun reading it as it reaches it’s 45th year of publication this year.

We received the Finger Printing Kit and the Tulip Divided Plate.

The Tulip Divided Plate is a really beautiful melamine plate.  It’s really solid, a very durable well made piece.  It think the design on this with the butterfly and flowers is lovely, perfect for my daughter Miss M who has been wanting a divided plate for a while now.  Being melamine, this feels more grown up than other children’s plates without the fear of it being broken like a china plate.

hungry caterpillar 2The children couldn’t wait to have a go at the Finger Printing Kit.  This would make a lovely gift, it is well presented and a great little set.  It consists of a 6 multicoloured ink pad and 14 card pictures, some with holes in to act as finger puppet pictures.

hungry caterpillar 3There are various animal images to colour such as the caterpillar himself, butterfly, horse, crocodile, monkey etc.  My children Miss M and Mister B were eager to get started.  It was so simple and mostly mess free.  By simply pressing your finger onto the sponge pad to pick up some ink, you then dabbed into onto the picture to colour.  The ink pad was full of colour, plenty to use for all the pictures.

hungry caterpillar 4My children loved creating their pieces of art, Mister B designing a multi coloured spotty crocodile and Miss M colouring a large image of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and also a smaller picture of him on a giant strawberry!

hungry caterpillar 5I think these look really effective when finished and they really enjoyed painting them.  What a lovely painting gift kit for someone to receive, with enough pictures to have several sessions painting.

hungry caterpillar 6There are other products in The Hungry Caterpillar range that all look equally as nice such as some stacking snack pots, a bunting making kit, stamper kit and card making kit.

I think Wild & Wolf have many lovely gifts to offer of a traditional feel, and that appear of a good quality that you’d be happy to both give and receive, why not take a look for yourself and keep an eye out for their gifts when out and about in the shops.

You can also catch up with them on their Facebook page or Twitter.

All reviews are my own and my family’s opinions and we received the gifts in order to write the review.

Radwraps Radiator Covers – Review

Radwraps are a new alternative to the traditional style wooden radiator covers, and give a more modern look, keep the radiator slimline and come in a multitude of styles, you can even use your own image or photo!

So what exactly is a Radwrap?  It’s basically a magnetic sheet that’s cut to size to fit your radiator and printed with a design of your choice.  They turn a plain, ordinary radiator into something a bit more decorative that fits in with your interior.

Below on the left is a radiator in my front room, on the right you can see how it is transformed by a Radwrap.

radwraps 3The Radwraps are ordered online through a simple process where you input the height and width measurements of your radiator and then choose a design, or if you fancy you add a design of your own or even use a photo!

Your chosen cover is then rolled up and sent in a secure cardboard tube ready for you to install.  When I first unwrapped it, I did wonder how easy it would be to put on the radiator, would it go on straight?, would it be easy to do myself?

WP_010133Well it took me less than a minute to apply this, I was really impressed with the ease at which is stuck to the radiator, quite firmly but not too much that I couldn’t adjust it if needed.  To be honest if you put it on straight across the top, it just falls into place naturally down the radiator, no wrinkles, no creases, no crookedness.

radwraps 4So what do I think of my Radwrap?  I love it!  It is just my kind of pattern, fits perfectly with my decor, and hides that unsightly radiator that had become a little scratched and in need of a respray.  I’ve had compliments from visitors, and I would definitely use these again on other radiators.  What a great but simple invention!

Radwraps say there is no heat loss by having one of these on, they are so easy to apply and require nothing extra to fit with and give your radiator and room a transformation.  With the array of different designs to choose from there really is something for everyone.

Here are a couple of the more modern designs on offer, ideal for children’s bedrooms:
